Elderly Afrikaner pensioners Ben Els and wife Veronese attacked last night, Mr Els badly injured:
Dec 25 2013 at 01h40 Walkerville smallholdings. The citizens' policing forum was warned at around 0h40 by Mrs Veronese Els when a black man with a shotgun invaded their homestead.
As was reported by Deon Van Zyl on Boere Krisis Aksie who interviewed the wife by telephone.
Mrs Els woke up from the dog's barking and thought the dog wanted to be let out. When she stood at the sliding door she realized it was already open and a black male stood there looking at her with a
shotgun in his hand. She shoved the sliding door closed, screamed an alert to her husband and ran to the upstairs bathroom where she locked herself inside and contacted the Citizen Policing Forum.
After she contacted them and heard that they were talking to the SAPS she heard the home-invader coming upstairs to the bathroom.
She then rushed out to activate the alarm in the adjacent bedroom but the man rushed her from the stairs held the shotgun barrel to her head and demanded to know
'where the gunsafe, the jewellery and the money' were. He spoke English and threatened to shoot her dead. She pleaded with the man explaining they were pensioners and had no cash.
He rushed back downstairs with his shotgun and fled from the open door. When she came downstairs 'it looked as if an ox had been slaughtered', was her description.
Her husband, aged 80, was bashed over his shoulder and arms with an angle-iron - and the point of the weapon penetrated one of his hands.
Besides uncle Ben's injuries the couple both are very traumatised and we pray for them', writes Deon Van Zyl. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Boere-Krisis-Aksie-BKA/116298045063416?fref=ts
