Mrs Isabel Coetzer, 65, survives farm-attack Sunday-evening at Kiepersol, two farmers arrest three attackers on a bus:
19 August 2013 - Andries Groenewald writes: " Local farmers riding patrol for Agri Kiepersol spotted the three suspects boarding a bus on the Kiepersol/Hazyview route after they had attacked Afrikaner farm-wife Mrs Isabel Coetzer, 65, on Sunday evening at her Kiepersol, Lowveld farm. The farmers followed the bus, meanwhile alerting fellow neighbourhood watch members - and then pulled over the bus, ordering the driver to stop. They searched the bus and arrested the three suspects with the stolen goods - firearms, jewellery, cellphones and cash.
They called the SAPS who took the three men and their loot into custody.
Prinsloo said the entire region is plagued by a very violent crime wave which is forcing the community to move closer together, and they created an interlinked network of farm-watch and neighbourhood-watch units. The past three years showed that an average of three 'housebreakings' and one average armed robbery a week occur in the district. "We believe that these three men may have been responsible for similar raids in the area, said Prinsloo.
They didn't say anything about arrested the bus driver.
SAPS colonel M.P. Makamu of Hazyview praised the excellent cooperation between the farming community from the Kiepersol neighbourhoodwatch with the police. 'The farmers are strengthening the hands of the police. We are now investigating a series of links and it is indeed possible that these three may be tied to other housebreakings and robberies in the area."
He also said nothing about arresting the bus driver - who was after all, transporting stolen firearms and other goods from an armed robbery.
