Kroonstad shopkeeper, Portuguese-South African Daniel Menezes, 68: critical after every bone in his face was crushed in hijacking Kroonstad - Daniel Menezes, 68, the deputy-manager at Manny's Supermarket, had 'every bone in his face crushed' during a suspected hijacking. His son Paul says his dad is in critical condition in the ICU of the Mediclinic Welkom. "We don't know what happened. My dad drove to Welkom to fetch fish and for deliveries in Hennenman and Virginia as he does every week. He left the Welkom fish-shop at 16h20. SAPS capt Stephen Thakeng said Mr Menezes was found day before yesterday about 1km outside Hennenman by fire-fighters - who called an ambulance. Mr Menezes' Hyundai H100 bakkie, white roof, with white/blue double-axle trailer, is missing. "Manny's Kroonheuwel' and 'Saveright' are the logos on the vehicle. The Welkom SAPS car-theft unit investigates only the hijacking of the vehicle. SAPS captain Kgosi Molema can be contacted at 076-223-0823. Feb 15 2014:
