Updated SAPS Dangerous Weapons Act also makes it illegal to carry Traditional Weapons

DEFINITION OF A DANGEROUS WEAPON: saps:""It is a criminal offence to possess a dangerous weapon with the intention of committing an unlawful act. If the possession of a dangerous weapon raises a reasonable suspicion that the person intends to use the dangerous weapon to commit an unlawful act, the person may be found guilty of an offence and liable on conviction to a fine or to be imprisoned for a period not exceeding three (3) years. WHAT IS A DANGEROUS WEAPON? Dangerous weapons Act 2013 (Act No 15 of 2013): 'Any object other than a firearm, capable of causing death of inflicting serious bodily harm if it were used for an unlawful purpose." Examples of dangerous weapons, including but not limited to, the following: - Knife such as agravity knife, switchblade, sword, dagger, blackjack, brass knuckles, ballistic knife - Spear - Tomahawk - Knobkierie - Crowbar - Nunchaku - Hammer Any other sharp and harmful object that a person carries and possesses with the intention to cause death and/or inflict serious bodily harm.
