Farmer Rhyno Smuts survives attack by five black males at Bothaville farm who pretended to want to buy grass-fodder Dec 1, 2013: Journalist Jana Bekker reported that Mr Smuts was at the homestead around 11h00 when he was alerted by the maid telling him that there was an unknown vehicle outside. "Because there are gravesites of black families on the farm, vehicles do stop there to look at them, ' said Mr Smuts. He presumed it was another one of those gravesite-visitors. He went outside and met one of five black males who said he wanted to buy bales of grass-fodder. Within seconds another man whipped out a gun - and Mr Smuts fled away from the homestead as the front door was about 30 meters away, and he was afraid he'd be gunned down. While running he slipped and fell and two of the gunmen captured him, pistol-whipping him against the head and then dragging him, the maid and the gardener into the homestead. They demanded the key to the gun-safe and money. "I just cooperated,' said Smuts. SAPS captain Stephen Thakeng said the gang fled in a white VW Polo, taking two sets of car keys and safe keys with them, as well as cellphones and an i-pad. No-one was arrested of course. Mr Smit's wife fortunately was not home at the time Ms Bekker reports. .https://www.facebook.com/pages/Boere-Krisis-Aksie-BKA/116298045063416?fref=ts
