Farm-attackers pose as detectives, tie up, torture farmer Helmut Goldbeck: now in coma, fighting for his life at Windhoek Mediclinic:
Newspaper Republikein Daily reports 2013-11-25 08:11 - Journalist: Ronelle Rademeyer.
Goldbeck 'sustained internal injuries' and broken ribs after he was tortured by 3 men using an electric cattle-prod.
Three black men posing as 'detectives' attacked Omitara, Namibian farmer Helmut Goldbeck, 66 on his farm Orumbo on Thursday-night.
He was tortured with an electric cattle prod, says his oldest daughter Anja Junius. He was alone on the farm when these men showed up at around 7pm claiming they were detectives looking for a suspect. The 'detectives' insisted on searching her brother Torstens homestead. "We believe that they wanted to check whether he was home or not,' she said. Torsten, who farms with his dad, was enroute home from Windhoek and was near the airport area when he received the call that his father was attacked, and in critical condition in hospital.
Mrs Junius said 'the men realized my dad was alone at home. They grabbed him, tied him up, kicked him and tortured him with an electric cattle-prod, demanding to know 'where the money and guns were hidden'.
She does not know what was stolen: her brother is still investigating this.
Mr Goldbeck is being maintained in an induced coma in the intensive care unit of the Mediclinic.
It is reported that he sustained internal damage and is bleeding, and some of his ribs were broken.
"He is critical and his life is not out of danger'. Junius said her father was still conscious after the attack and after the torturers had left, he was able to phone neighbour Marko Seefeldt. She praised the super-fast reaction by the police reservists who farm in the area, as well as paramedic Braam Diergaardt's fast arrival. Nobody was arrested thus far. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Boere-Krisis-Aksie-BKA/116298045063416
