Bergville KZN farmer in hospital after assault by five black gunmen: -- Four black men and a female domestic worker were arrested for the attack against a Bergville, KZN farmer on Monday Nov 18 2013 at 19h30. Journalist Suné van Heerden reports that the unnamed farmer, 43, was assaulted by five armed men in an ambush at at his homestead. SAPS capt Thulani Zwane was quoted as saying that the farmer and his domestic worker were tied up and dumped in one of the bedrooms after they had assaulted the farmer. They fled in the farmer's vehicle and four other getaway cars. Zwane said the farmer's abandoned vehicle was tracked where it was abandoned on a road between Bergville and Winterton. The SAPS also received a tip about the four getaway vehicles and four men were captured on Tuesday-afternoon with two of these cars. They also arrested the domestic worker, suspecting her of involvement. The SAPS are still seeking two other vehicles and a fifth suspect. The arrested five people are expected to appear in Bergville magistrate's court soon for their remand -appearance.
