Black man confesses to cold-blooded murder of Afrikaner Quintin Brits at OppiPlaas Restaurant, Rustenburg: second arrest expected --
Rustenburg – Sept 13 2013 - Platinum Weekly - The OppiPlaas murder earlier this year drew the outrage of the greater Rustenburg community as one of our members was gunned downed in a violent and futile robbery at the OppiPlaas pub & restaurant on the R24 on Friday the 29th of March 2013. As reported previously: That night at around 12h45 Quintin Brits was gunned down by two armed robbers in front of his long-time girlfriend, Angie van Rooyen, when he put himself in harm’s way to protect her from clear and present danger. Quintin’s funeral was held the following week in Centurion (5th of April). For a while it seemed as if Quintin’s death would become just another unsolved statistic in a pile of unsolved murders that grow each and every day. With each passing week it seemed to Quintin’s loved ones that they would never receive justice for this tragedy, and that the perpetrators of this terrible crime was still free and able to repeat it. Later the Platinum Weekly reported that the SAPD was on the verge of making an arrest, but that the second killer was still at large. Earlier this week during an unrelated raid in a shabeen by members of the SAPD, a man confessed to several cases of murder and assault, with several other atrocious crimes in the surrounding area. The Police contacted the family of late Quitin and told them that he [perpetrator] was a suspect in Quintin’s murder case. Five months down the line of the senseless killing and a suspect surrenders himself to the custody of the SAPD... Witnesses (friends and family of Quintin) have been contacted with regards to identifying this man as the possible murderer in a line-up, which will take place on Friday (6 September 2013). It is believed that a positive identification of this man will lead to a guilty verdict and possible justice for Quintin’s friends and family. The suspect’s name was still withheld by time of going to print. Our prayers go with all Quintin’s family and friends and we hope that you receive the justice that every person should be entitled to. http://www.platinumweekly.co.za/articleA271.html
