A previously unreported farm attack was noted by Mrs Joan McNaughton jmcn@adsactive.com -- "my parents Ralph and Barbara Scott were attacked on the 7th Feb 1995 on their farm in Himeville, KZN. My father was stabbed 13 times and my mother about 8. My mom died 10 days later from her injuries. My parents were active in their community, my dad sent tractors every year to plough on neighbouring black farms. They helped with the tertiary education of at least 4 promising young black people. I remember once, in about 1984, a young black guy, Richard Ndlovo, greeting my father :"Hi Ralph" in Barclays Bank in Pietermaritzburg, unheard of in those days, my parents had paid for his studies.
There were 3 men that got access to the house, by taking the putty out of a window -at about 3am. They were given information by workers from a neighbouring farm which my father managed, they knew exactly where the light switches were and which window to gain entry through. My father was stabbed 13 times and my mother about 8.
I have read that deaths that occur later from attacks, are not attributed to farm attacks. Around the same time there were many attacks in that area on black IFP members and leaders, if I remember correctly about 11 were murdered around Impendhle. It was broadly accepted as the 'election' before the election. "
