June 18 2013 - Afriforum conference discloses gross negligence by SAPS in protecting farm-attack victims- Centurion. Volksblad writes on June 19 2013 about the heartbreaking stories told by victims of farm attacks against white farm-families, speaking at an Afriforum conference. The witnesses told the conference of the way in which their human rights were violated by 'poor police investigations'. ------------------------------- WHITE SOUTH AFRICAN FARMERS' CHANCES OF GETTING MURDERED IS FOURTEEN TIMES GREATER THAN THOSE OF ORDINARY SOUTH AFRICAN RESIDENTS...(Institute for Security Studies) ------------------------------- RELATIVES PLEADED WITH SAPS AND PROVIDED INFORMATION ABOUT SUSPECTS - BUT THESE CALLS FELL ON DEAF EARS.. AFRIFORUM: ---------------------------- In some cases the police were even told the names and whereabouts of the murderers of their loved ones - but relatives' pleas to the police to investigate further, are 'falling on deaf ears': MURDER OF VANESSA STAFLEU Mr Corrie Nel of Randfontein told how he lost his daughter Vanessa Stafleu - and how he and his wife today are looking after her two little children, who saw their mom murdered in front of their eyes. The children had to walk more than a kilometre in the dark seeking help. "Even if I have to sell my farm I will get her killer in the law court,' he testified. ------------------- HIBBE VAN DER VEEN: SAPS ARE EXCESSIVELY UNPROFESSIONAL: Retired Bronkhorstspruit farmer Hibbe van der Veen described the SAPS as 'excessively unprofessional' "My birthday will never be the same again because on that day last year I was attacked and shot." He was shot in the stomach and elsewhere and was in a coma for weeks. His medical costs are soaring past R1,4million. "The docket is at the SAPS but nothing happens with it. My message to the Minister is: 'what are you going to do that people in this country can continue to produce food?" ----- The Afriforum is handing over its summary of SAPS-neglect in many cases to the SA Human Rights Commission. (This ANC-run body does not have any legal standing but serves in an 'advisory' capacity, publishing documents mostly). Afriforum has also drawn up an advisory for crime-victim empowerment which it intends to spread across community networks countrywide. ------------- http://www.volksblad.com/nuus/2013-06-19-afriforum-l-polisie-nalatigheid-bloot ---------------- Families of farm-murder victims tell their stories: ' The hurt of losing a loved one in such cruel murders grow ever worse over the years...' --------------- Potgietersrus. June 18 2013 - Christine Nel placed a floral wreath at the White Cross Monument for Farm Murder Victims at the foot of the Ysterberg overlooking the N2 highway for her murdered daughter Venessa Stafleu and said: "The hurt of losing a loved one in such cruel murders grow ever worse over the years...' Her daughter was shot dead in front of her two small children in April 2012 on the farm Doornfontein in the Randfontein District. Thus far no-one was arrested. Only some cellphones and a pistol were robbed. The murdered woman's father Corrie stuck his daughter's name-tag to a new white steel-cross erected at the monument and his eyes filled with tears. Two white crosses for Johan van Rensburg 77 and his wife Gloudien 64), murdered last year in the Baltimore district in Limpopo, also now stand at the foot of the more than 2,000 gigantic crosses -- all planted there ever since Lita Cross Fourie planted the first two in 2004 to commemorate her murdered parents. "There aren't crosses here for each and every person murdered on our farms", said Johan Willemse, chairman of the Pietersburg-Doornkraal Heritage Foundation. ---------------------- WHITE SOUTH AFRICAN FARMERS' CHANCES OF GETTING MURDERED IS FOURTEEN TIMES GREATER THAN THOSE OF ORDINARY SOUTH AFRICAN RESIDENTS... ---------------------- "The Institute for Security Studies research has found that a (white) South African farmer's chance to get murdered is fourteen times greater than those of ordinary residents. "To be a farmer isn't supposed to be one of the most dangerous jobs.' He asks the question: 'why is the government placing greater emphasis on the theft of copper cables, on gang violence and on the poaching of rhinos than it does on the murder-epidemic against its own farmers?" The ANC-regime makes the erroneous claim that 'more people are murdered in squatter camps than on farms.' "Look at the proportionally small number of farmers (white farmers now are less than 20,000) being targetted - and the large number of farm-families being attacked...' he points out. http://www.volksblad.com/nuus/2013-06-18-plaasmoorde-hartseer-erger --------------------- Volksblad reports in a seperate article on June 19 2013: the widow of murdered farmer Louis Traut 80, described how her husband bled to death while she watched helplessly: Port Elizabeth - An Eastern Cape farm woman has told how she watched her elderly husband bleed to death after an attack by armed men on their farm.“The wounds bled terribly and I was helplessly watching as they hit my poor husband with a kierie, kicking him and stabbing him,” Coleen Traut, 48, told Volksblad. She tried to take a knife from one of the attackers and was stabbed in both hands. She said she then realised her husband would not survive the attack and felt a sudden calm come over her.Her elderly husband, Louis Traut, 80, died and she and his two daughters, Mariska, 45, and Louisa, 50, sustained stab wounds and bruising in the attack on Sunday evening. They cut the phone wires before tying up the women and locking them in the house. They fled in the family’s car. The SAPS has arrested two suspects (not three as originally reported). They also found back the abandoned car.All three women were said to be severely traumatised and have been released from hospital following treatment.
