PE, Sidwell businessman Johannes Botha, 52, shot dead in car outside Wheel Doctor shop
Fri, 16 August 2013 Port Elizabeth police are investigating a case of murder after a Sidwell businessman was shot dead on Friday morning.
Police captain Stanley Jarvis, says Mr Johannes Botha, 52, was gunned down and shot dead early in the morning morning when a family member -- the owner of the Wheel Doctor -- was opening up for business nearby. The businessman was confronted by two black men armed with guns who opened the car doors and began searching the occupants of the car. Jarvis says at the same time Mr Johannes Botha, a family member who has an adjacent business arrived -- and when he noticed something was amiss drove onto the pavement and knocked down one of the gunmen. "The other (black) gunman then came around the vehicle from the other side and shot dead Mr Botha with a pistol behind the wheel of his car.
Mr Botha died instantly. The two black male suspects ran away: the second gunman who Mr Botha had tried to run down did not seen harmed.

SAPS shocked about murder of Afrikaner policeman Willem Pretorius, 36, of PE
Fri, 16 August 2013 The Eastern Cape police commissioner, general Celiwe Binta, has expressed her shock at the murder of Port Elizabeth policeman Willem Pretorius, 36, who was stationed at Gelvandale police station. His body was found late last night (with gunshot wounds) in bushes between Motherwell and Uitenhage. And Mr Ary van Onselen of Uitenhage was found critically injured with 22 stab wounds near Mr Pretorius, just metres away. SAPS Provincial spokeswoman brigadier Marinda Mills confirmed that Mr Van Onselen was reported missing.
