Klerksdorp farmer Dries du Toit, 3 black men get only ten years in prison -- Klerksdorp Circuit Court: Three black South African men were sentenced to only TEN YEARS imprisonment by black Circuit Judge Ramarumo Monama for 'conspiring to kill' Ventersdorp farmer Dries du Toit in January 2012. Sentenced to only ten years imprisonment were Bitso Mokgosana (34), Thamago Lekene (48) and Naledi Moilwa (33) Lekene was described as having played 'a key role in the conspiracy due to his work in NW education Department as administrator. He was found guilty in 2006 of having sold stolen cattle. The judge said in his summary that the murder had a powerful effect on the family and the community. "Two children 's father is gone, food-security is threatened because a succesful farmer was killed. And sixteen of his workers who also had families, have lost their livelihood.' In a clearly premeditated, well-planned attack, Mr Du Toit and wife Lettie were attacked in the early-morning hours of their farm - located across from farmer Eugene Terre'Blanche's homestead. Mr Du Toit was bludgeoned to death (as had been Terre'Blanche); and Mrs Lettie du Toit and her sister were assaulted. The badly traumatised Lettie, who is a lawyer, was unable to identify any of the three arrested men during an identity parade. However sister-in-law Elizabeth the Villiers identified Mathibela and Mokgosana - noting however that the light was 'poor during the attack' and 'she could have made a mistake'.No fingerprints of the men were found on the crime scene. The testimony of a key state-witness was crucual: Piet Mosenyegi, 28, who worked for the Du Toit family, attended the 'many meetings held about the conspiracy (to attack the Du Toit family). He was, he testified, asked to bring photos and videos of the house inside and outside. There were stubborn rumours in the black community that 'Du Toit had several million Rand in his safe'. After the verdict yesterday, Mrs Lettie du Toit did not want to comment. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=698864700140078&set=a.178568022169751.48293.116298045063416&type=1&theater
