April 24. The woman, in her 80s, was left with an open wound to her left eye and suffered an asthma attack as a result of the incident.
Two suspects gained entrance into the home at about 10.30am. According to Alpha Security, the victim was raking her garden when the incident occurred.
“They used her garden furniture to break into the house and when the woman went back inside, she found them waiting for her,” Alpha Security confirmed.
They physically assaulted the woman, including kicking her.
Her daughter told EXPRESS that at one point the robbers even stepped onto her mother’s head while she was on the floor.
“She recently had an operation to remove a tumour and the wound hadn’t healed yet. Stepping on her head caused the wound above her left eye to open,” she said.
“My mother also suffered an asthma attack because of the shock and trauma from the incident.”
ER24 was dispatched to the scene and treated the woman.
She went to see her doctor the following day for a check-up. She suffered from a muscle spasm as well and was given medication.
“Although she is slowly recovering, she is still not in a good space and extremely traumatised.”
The woman’s family, who live overseas, posted messages on Alpha Security’s Facebook page to thank the security officers for coming to their mother’s rescue.
