The three gunmen entered a shop at Taljaard Street in the Daspoort smallholdings north of Pretoria just as mom Rachel Botes, 29, entered it with her little daughters, aged seven months and four years. Her baby girl had a gun held to her head on Thursday-night 26 March 2015.
-- The terrifying ordeal of the family was recorded by journalists at the Rekord Moot daily, a publication of Caxton Publishers.
-- Mrs Rachel Botes (29) said she entered the shop on Taljaard Street with her two daughters. aged seven months and four years, when three black men closed the doors as she got to the till at around 19:00.
-----------------
The baby cried when a gun was held to her head and the thug told the terrified young Afrikaner mom to 'shut the baby up or I would shoot her...'
-----------------
The Afrikaner family were the only customers in the shop - she was at the till when a black man stepped close to them and pushed a gun to the baby's head: " “I was at the till and one of them put a gun to my baby’s head. My baby started screaming and the robber told me to shut her up otherwise he was going to shoot her,” she said.
-- Botes took her children and ran to the back of the shop for safety. The men tipped contents of the till into their bag and fled. “I’m so shaken and worried they were going to shoot my baby,” Botes said. She said no shots were fired and no one was injured. Police were not immediately available for comment.
