Renaming of Cape Town airport to communist terrorist Chris Hani opposed by Khoisan leader Peter J. Marais:
20 March 2015: 'Capetonians we will have to move fast if we don't want to see Cape Town Airport renamed after a communist, Chris Hani.
And this in the city where 80% of the residents are religious people. This is now or never. The Democratic Alliance MEC Beverley Schaffer (provincial minister of agriculture and tourism) was quoted in the media having 'no objection as long as the public participation project is followed.' We know what this will mean. The ANC will bus hundreds of its supporters to 'public' meetings to support their proposals. We must organise a meeting of leaders at once.
Peter J Marais, former politician and a descendant of the Khoi, San and Griqua first-nations of South Africa, writes:
"Those leaders who fight for recognitio of us as the First Nation, with pride in our origins: That tiny little South African communist party paper of Blade Ndzimande who got into parliament on the African National Congress' party's back is launching a campaign to rename Cape Town Airport after their dead leader Chris Hani. We (Khoi-san-griquas) say 'Over Our Dead Bodies'.
We will have to let our voices be heard and insist that the airport must be renamed to a Khoi, a San and/or a Griqua leader...
