Afrikaner Security guard Herman van der Schyff, 34, tied up, then stabbed to death around midnight Sunday-morning June 16 - the dog unit only showed up late Sunday afternoon... June 17 2013 - Beeld journalist: "Lax policing leads to security guard's murder'. Article by: Charné Kemp, Monday 17 June 2013 --------------------------- OLIFANTSHOEK, North Cape. Security guard Herman van der Schyff, 34 was murdered at the abattoir he was guarding in a supposedly 'failed robbery attempt'. The abattoir's owner Louis Pieterse said he was furious about 'poor police work'. He has offered a R30,000 reward for the person who can bring the murderers to justice and jailed. He believes the same gang is responsible for other breakins in his shops. He already has submitted twelve counts of theft and housebreaking which are yet to be solved thus far. "Herman phoned me earlier and said the dogs were restless. When the alarm went off, only two police officers went there: they saw the dogs lying down and drove off again. "When I drove from my farm about 30km from town to the police station and insisted that they come with me, they found Herman's body. Two weeks earlier there was a breakin in my shop in town and money was stolen. The alarm-control was completely torn out and the computer's harddrive with the CCTV footage destroyed. The SAPS claimed they saw 'nothing suspicious' after the alarm went off and they went to investigate. Last year there also was a breakin at the abattoir. The banks in Rustenburg became suspicious when someone tried to cash in one of my cheque. The man was identified and the police in that town went to fetch the suspect - but the investigating officer who had to be there in court to oppose bail, was absent: so the suspect could flee. 'There is a slowness, a laxity, and a lack of dedication amongst the SAPS to investigate cases. It is a screaming disgrace,' he fumed. The murdered Afrikaner's dad Herman senior, said he was called thirty minutes past midnight after the alarm went off, with Pieterse warning him of his son's murder. He went to the crime scene and told what he saw: 'my son was covered in blood and was lying defencelessly, tied up by hands and feet, on the ground." "I phoned my son's cellphone and the thugs apparently accidentially pushed the reply button because I could hear them talking and walking. Then the phone died. The dog-unit who was supposed to trace them through the veld, only arrived on Sunday afternoon. "The dogs were only able to follow the track to the cemetery by then, after that the traces were lost. The policing in the countryside is weak. My dear son died because of a cellphone and the bit of cash in his wallet." SAPS lt Andrea Cloete said the complainants will have to submit a written complaint before they can investigate their complaints. http://www.volksblad.com/nuus/2013-06-17-laks-polisie-lei-glo-tot-sekuriteitswag-se-dood
