South African Police sergeant Hendric 'Muthi' Mthimunye's white colleagues launched a grievance-complaint against him for anti-white hatespeech. Mthimunye wrote on his 'WhatsApp" internet profile: "Never Trust the White Man, the only Time you Trust Him is when he is dead.' Twelve of his white colleagues launched the formal complaint after reading his comment on 5 November 2014 on his WhatsApp profile. The police officer also wore wore a red beret which is also favoured by the members and leaders of the opposition party of the ANC, namely the Economic Freedom Fighters, on his Whatsapp profile page. (see picture attached) The twelve colleagues write in their complaint that Mithimunye's words are 'racist and hatespeech'. "We work daily with him as part of the armed reaction-unit of the South African Police Service. "We feel that we cannot trust a (colleague) person who utters such blatantly-racist remarks and incites hatespeech against white people. As police officers we have to be able to trust one another and protect each other in often the most incredibly dangerous situations,' said the complaint. The SAPS is expected to provide their services to all South Africans - including white people. The twelve members believe that Mthimunye's words are unsuitable language to be used by a police member and that his comment brings dishonour upon the SAPS. The organisation who is handling the grievance on behalf of its members, Solidarity trade union, said they have also sent a letter directly to Mthimunye's commanding officer asking that steps be taken against him said its spokesman for fair-labour practices Dirk Groenewald. The police's provincial spokesman lt-col Lungelo Dlamini, confirmed that Mthimunye 's commanding office is following 'the grievance proceedures against him'. Mthimunye said it 's all a 'misunderstanding'' and that he has a friend called Mulungu which means 'white man' in Zulu. "I was angry with my friend Mulungu. My status comment was targeting my friend who did not pay me back. It did not target my collegues nor was meant to be interpreted as targeting whites'. "I never intended to hurt them and already sent a letter of apology,' he said. A former Human Rights Commission member Dr. Leon Wessels said the incident is unacceptable behaviour for a police officer. "The entire community must guard against such prejudices', he said. (The current Human Rights Commission no longer has any white members on its executive committee. ) http://www.salabournews.co.za/index.php/home/latest-news/70-labour-news/21760-policemans-colleagues-complain-about-whatsapp-status-that-you-can-only-trust-a-dead-white-man.html http://www.netwerk24.com/nuus/2014-11-25-jy-kan-net-n-dooie-wit-man-vertrou
