29 August 2014 15:00 Garsfontein - After Suzette Vermeulen was bullied by two police officers who threatened to arrest her and bullied her by trying to push her car off the road, now lives like a hermit, fearful to go out after her frightening experience.
"I am afraid I have been marked, 'she told journalist Amelia de Ridder.
She wsa enroute to her home at the Boardwalk Meander security complex when a police vehicle came storming after her with sirens screaming.
"I was about 600 metres from my home when the two men ordered me to pull off the road so that 'they can search my car. I lowered my window
and told them to follow me to my complex because I could feel safer there.
She turned on her emergency lights and drove to the complex at a speed of about 35km/hour to the security gate of the complex.
"I didn't trust them they made me feel unsafe.'
They also stopped at the g ate and asked why she drove to the gate and not stopped next to the road. She said she told them that she felt safer with security guards around.
The police officers said she 'should have gone to a petrol station or police station if she felt that unsafe. They were very derogative, sarcastic and rude and said 'they can stop me anywhere to search my car'.

"We are from the police and can do what we want,' they said at one stage.
"I was shaking like a leaf but neither of the men tried to put me at ease - they kept on intimidating me.
"I phoned by lawyer to ask me what my rights were and he advised to ask them for what 'probable cause' they wanted to search my car.
"The first policeman kept insisting that ' they did not need areason and that I had to do what they ordered me to.'
"My attorney asked to speak to the men to ask them what the problem was but the two policemen refused to talk to her attorney and said they 'don't work for him'.
"The second policeman threatened to arrest her for 'interfering in police matters'.,
I asked their ID cards so that I could write down their particulars. The second cop took his card from his wallet but then put it back inside again.
The first cop refused and again said he 'doesn't work for my lawyer' and he will not show me anything'.
Neither of the two wanted to give me their names and kept on threatening to arrest me for 'being difficult and wasting their time'.
Vermeulen wrote down the police vehicle registration numer and the men drove off. "I am grateful for the security guards of the complex as they came and stood around my car. I don't know what would have happened
if they hadn't been there.
"The police are supposed to make you feel safe. Now they scared me so much that I now feel like a prisoner in my own home.
"I was even too scared to drive 7km to Garsfontein police station to report the case. My friends now are driving me around.'
The two cops never searched her car nor gave her any reason why they wanted to do so. She lodged a formal complaint at the Brooklyn police station on Thursday August 28 2014.
