Four black males and one black female were arrested at their homes in the township of Matsulu, outside Nelspruit, in connection with the murder of a farmer who was found dead in Malalane, Mpumalanga, last week.
The farmer Riaan Jakobus van der Berg was found murdered on Friday in his house with a rope around his neck.
Mpumalanga SAPS brig Selvy Mohlala says the suspects were arrested at their homes in Matsulu after police received a tip off.
They are expected to appear in court on Wednesday.
"We managed to arrest four men and one woman in connection with the murder.
"Some of the items belonging to the deceased have been confiscated including his Nissan hard body vehicle.
"All the suspects will appear before the Malalane Periodical Court on Wednesday, on charges of murder and house robbery," says Mohlala.
