Survived: Farmer Bart Klopper, 63, bludgeoned with iron pipe outside his homestead in Edenville Sunday April 13 2014:
EDENVILLE April 13 2014. Farmer Bart Klopper, 63, required 39 stitches to his head after he was bludgeoned by a black man who attacked him with an iron bar.
Klopper said he didn't fight back: he believes 'things might have ended up a whole lot worse if he had'.
On Sunday Klopper was outside his homestead on the path to the back door when a man attacked him, bashing him repeatedly over the head.
"After the first blow my glasses fell off,' he said. A round iron pipe was picked up after the attack near the house and is believed to be the weapon.
"The blows were raining on my head and back,' he said.
He had to go to hospital to get stitched up. And what's so disappointing to him is that the SAPS - notified on Sunday - only showed up on his farm to take a statement and investigate the crime scene on Tuesday April 15. There has been no motive provided for the attack. There is no indication of a 'robbery'having taken place. Boere Krisis Aksie
