Pretoria man dies after axe attack

.Five men attacked Lazlow Bercsényi and his wife Carol Bercsényi on their smallholding in Bon Accord.
The 87 year-old man recovering from a hip operation has died after being attacked with an axe on his smallholding near Pretoria, Maroela Media reported on Sunday.
Five men attacked Lazlow Bercsényi, 87, and his wife Carol Bercsényi, in her 70s, on their smallholding in Bon Accord. Lazlow Bercsényi died from his injuries in hospital on Sunday.
Family friend Ian Botha said Carol Bercsényi needed to be operated on for injuries sustained to her jaw and arm. She was attacked with a spade. She does not know of her husband's death.
No arrests have yet been made, police told Maroela Media.
Chairman of the local community policing forum, Livio Heath, said it was the third axe attack in the area. A couple was attacked on their property in the Honingnestkrans area on Tuesday between 2am and 3am.
They sustained minor injuries. Another couple was attacked in the same area around 2am on Saturday. Nobody was hurt.

were attacked by five 'armed persons' on Saturday-evening around 10h00 on their smallholding in the Bon Accord near Pretoria.Mr Bercsény, reported as 'being so frail you could have blown him over', died on Sunday-morning at around 05h00 from his injuries."Lawlow was attacked with an axe,' confirmed Afriforum spokeswoman Tarien Cooks. The local community-policing spokesman said this was the third attack in this smallholdings region north of Pretoria since Tuesday during which axes were used. In the previous two attacks at the Honingkrans area, the two couples who were attacked did not sustain serious injuries. Ian Botha, a family friend, told Maroela Media that 'they could have blown oom Lazlow down he was so frail.'
Mr Botha said that wife Carol has to undergo surgery after she was attacked with a shovel.
She was badly injured to her jaw and an arm and was also cut across the face. She is 'still not aware of her husband's death'.
The couple were rushed to the mediclinic after the attack. Sinoville SAPS spokesman Captain Maheso told Maroela Media that no-one was arrested for the murder-attack.
Maheso confirmed that the elderly couple was attacked by at least five persons.'It's not clear whether the suspects fled on foot or in a Mazda Sting car.'
Carol apparently stabled people's horses at the smallholding.
Mr Livio Heath, te local chairman of the community policing forum, said on Sunday that this was the third axe-attack in this area.
"We aren't yet sure if the same persons are involved in these attacks."

The volunteer-patrol group spokesman said they would work closely with the SAPS to try and find the attackers as soon as possible.
