The microwave weapon, or HERF is a direct energy weapon used against micro-electronics and fuel vapor. The technology required to create these weapons is inexpensive and generally easy to construct.
A microwave oven operates at 2.45 GHz using a tube called a magnetron. The magnetron tube is used as a weapon. It is a simple transmitter used to shoot out 1000 watts with a wave gun and a horn.
The magnetron is not a new weapon, and research began after World War II on the development of the firearm. The use of electromagnetic waves as a potential weapon was tested in the US on rats at short range and successfully induced nausea, tumors and other symptoms. Although Russia is known to have a greater knowledge in this weapon, they called for a total ban in this field.
