Oops: SouthAfrica Minister of Tourism attacked by gunmen, saved by bodyguards, shots fired near Kensington Home of Derek Hanekom. February 23 2015 - Johannesburg - Minister of Tourism Derek Hanekom was involved in a botched hijacking as he was he was approaching his Kensington home. The minister was returning home on Monday evening and hijackers emerged from the dark and tried to take his official vehicle. However, his bodyguards came to his rescue and fought them off. Shots were fired and the gunmen fled. Neither Hanekom nor his bodyguards were injured in the incident. Police spokeswoman Colonel Noxolo Kweza confirmed the incident but declined to give more details. “We’re confirming it happened on Monday, but we can’t give more details,” she said. According to a source who asked to remain anonymous, Hanekom was returning home at about 7.30pm, with his driver and bodyguard, when gun-wielding men approached the vehicle. It is not known whether the attack happened at a stop sign or when Hanekom was in his driveway. And it is unclear how many men were involved. “They did not know who it was; they just saw a tinted Mercedes Benz and wanted it. The bodyguard managed to protect the minister and shots were fired. The hijackers fled, but the bodyguards did not chase them as the minister was still in the car. They could not do that in case more shots were fired and the minister got hurt,” the source said. https://www.facebook.com/boerekrisisaksie/photos/a.178568022169751.48293.116298045063416/1100145213345356/?type=1&theater

Heidelberg (TVL) A neighbour saved the Tagliaferri family from 3 black male gunmen because Mrs Magda Tagliaferri's screams alerted him to the attack. The family fell victim to an aggravated armed robbery at their home in Lupin Street, leaving the father hospitalised and the family traumatised. The incident occurred around 05:15 on February 17, when Fausto Tagliaferri heard his wife (Magda) screaming, where she was about to hang out clothes on the washing line. Upon reaching Magda at the kitchen door, he was overpowered by three armed men, who struck him over the head with a fire-arm. The blow left him stunned and unable to move. The intruders then proceeded to bind Fausto, Magda and their 11 year old daughter's hands behind their backs with cable ties and forced them to lie on the floor. A neighbour heard Magda's scream for help, and looked over the wall. As he called Fausto's name, he saw three intruders in the house and went back inside to alert the police. While holding a weapon to their daughter's head, the robbers demanded cash and other valuables. "I feared they would kill my daughter unless I complied. There was nothing my husband could do, as he was lying on the floor with his head covered in blood", Magda said. The neighbour's call however, alerted the robbers who then grabbed two cell phones and a laptop. They attempted to flee in a white BMW that was parked in front of the house, but according to W/O Madeleine von Wielligh (SAPS Nigel spokesperson) the neighbour, in an attempt to stall the robbers, rammed his Mitsubishi Pajero into their vehicle. "One of the robbers fired two shots into the Pajero's driver door, missing the neighbour by centimetres. He jumped out and ran back to his house as they fled the scene", W/O Von Wielligh said. Fausto was admitted to Life Suikerbosrand Clinic in Heidelberg for injuries to the head and was discharged on February 18. "This has been a traumatic experience. Our daughter is receiving trauma counselling", Magda told HERAUT. "If it wasn't for our neighbour's swift reaction, it could have ended worse." A white BMW was also involved in a robbery in Violet Avenue on January 16 and police are investigating whether the two incidents are linked. A case of aggravated robbery and theft has been opened with no arrests yet been made. http://www.heidelbergnigelheraut.co.za/article/1924/Aggravated-robbers-attack-family https://www.facebook.com/boerekrisisaksie/photos/a.178568022169751.48293.116298045063416/1098932133466664/?type=1&theater

Well-known Delmas farmer Wykie Berg 65 and wife Hannetjie 63, who have been attacked seven times during the last few years, had to defend themselves again on Sunday in broad daylight when eight black gunmen attacked their farm. Their beloved dogs were poisoned with such lethal stuff that the animals dropped dead within a minute. The couple - who are related to the actor/presentor Hykie Berg, were unharmed - but are grieving about their three beloved dogs who were poisoned by the attackers. The Berg couple were listening to a church service on their radio when they heard the dogs barking. "I thought they were barking at the turkeys so I finished listening to the church service before investigating'. Armed with his legally registered 9mm pistol, he stepped outside and immediately knew there was trouble when he saw one of his dogs, dead. He rushed back into the house and said to his wife 'today there is big trouble'. 'I got my firearm ready. After the previous seven attacks our house is secured pretty well and access is limited only through the kitchen door. I went and stood inside next to the kitchen door, striking on the metal door and pretending to call my dogs and farm animals. When I pushed open the door slightly, war broke out'. Eight black gunmen were at the door and cut lose with their guns. He fired back until his eight-cartridge magazine ws empty. "They fired some 16 shots in my direction before running away. It appeared as if one may have been injured because he ran with difficulty.' Berg and his wife got into the safest part of the homestead and called for help - and the police and farmers were on scene shortly thereafter, searching the area. The attackers were gone and could not be found, he said. "The attack wasn't as bad as the fact that we had to bury our beloved dogs, Missie, Ounooi and Wagter. "They were poisoned with horrible poison, not the usual Temic used to poison dogs,' he added. "The dogs died within a minute after eating the poisoned meat. http://maroelamedia.co.za/blog/nuus/suid-afrika/plaasaanval-mini-oorlog-toe-delmas-boer-aanvallers-verjaag/

Elderly white couple Susanna and Melvin Lawson 'may have been murdered so that others can move in' - police and local ANC-counsellor launch investigation, hold emergency meeting about gruesome double-murders of Susanna and Melvin Lawson in government-owned cottage. "There is a severe housing shortage', ANC counsellor confirms. ----------------------------------------- -- Chelsea Pieterse, Friday 27 Feb 2015 - Pietermaritburg, Oribi Village: The couple were stabbed to death: their neck was sliced through and then they were set alight. Journalist Chelsea Pieterse reports that local community members report that there is such a massive housing shortage that the elderly couple may have been murdered so that somebody else can move into their little house. They died early Thursday morning: Susanne 72 and Melvin Lawson 71 were stabbed to death and then petrol was thrown over them and they were set alight. A neighbour said the couple had a breakin a month earlier and their pension-cards and cash was stolen. "They were probably robbed by people who wanted to scare them into leaving their apartment,' he said. Local ANC-councillor Philani Ngidi confirmed that 'the area has a serious shortage of housing. Most of the cottages in the Oribi area are owned by the Dept of Human Settlement and rented to residents. These people often are targetted by local drug-addicts who want to occupy the apartments. "We are meeting on Saturday to discuss this. I strongly suspect that the motive for this double-murder of the white couple was their house, but we aren't certain as yet". The local police also confirmed that this was their suspicion. Local community members are aghast at the incident, and were standing around outside their homes talking about the 'quiet, withdrawn couple' which was murdered to gruesomely. A neighbour lady said she woke up early that day and heard dogs barking. "I looked through my bathroom window and saw the curtains move around. I thought it was just Melvin yelling at the dogs'. Susanne's niece Sandra Vorster was inconsolable: weeping uncontrollably, she only managed to say that they had been 'very close'. #SouthAfrica Elderly white couple Susanna and Melvin Lawson 'may have been murdered by mob so that others can move in' Vermoor, toe brand hul woning - sterf dalk sodat ander kan intrek Deur Chelsea Pieterse Vrydag 27 Februarie 2015 06:36 Susan en Melvin Lawson. Survives: A Deaf elderly couple attacked, stabbed by knifemen Oakglen, Altona Street, Bellville, Tygerberg area while the police were tied up controlling a group of rioters at the local law courts. REported by die Tygerberger journalist Michelle Linnert 2015-02-25 15:00 ‘n Buurman het dadelik te hulp gesnel toe die dowe, bejaarde egpaar verder in sy straat aangeval en een gesteek is. Só vertel Morné van Zyl, wat ook in Altonastraat woon, oor die gebeure Dinsdagmiddag helder oordag in die oprit van sy bure. “Ek was gistermiddag 12:00 besig om die motorhuisdeur af te skuur om te verf. Skielik hoor ek iemand gil,” vertel Morné. “Ek was nie seker watter soort gil dit was nie – die oumensies is mos doof, hulle maak geluide – maar ek kon dadelik agterkom iets is fout.” Morné sê toe hy in die straat af kyk of daar kinders gil, sien hy ‘n man wat weghardloop. Toe wéét hy daar is fout, sê hy. - http://www.tygerburger.co.za.

Police refuses to reveal details of double-shooting of elderly couple in Knysna

KNYSNA NEWS - A cloud of secrecy still obscures the shooting incident of Friday, February 13 2015 when a couple was shot in the bedroom of their home in Queen Street, Knysna by a man who is believed to have the Tanzanian nationality - and who was released by the NPA. Anyone who has any information regarding this incident is requested to call the Knysna SAPS at 044 302 6652 or Crime Stop at 08600 10111 It seems the police have silenced everybody with any information on what truly happened at about 03:30 that morning. It is not even know whether the injuries were lethal or not. Nobody, not the family, police or the hospital, can disclose any information on the medical condition of the man. Neither may the couple's names be released to the media, for security reasons. The woman and her children also do not stay at their home for the sake of their safety. On the day the husband and wife were shot, the Knysna Police arrested a suspect and issued a statement saying: "Police searched and found evidence in his possession that links him to the crime scene." However, National Prosecutions Authority (NPA) has made a controversial decision that there was not enough evidence against the Tanzanian suspect to place cases of house robbery and attempted murder on the court roll and he was consequently released him from custody. On Tuesday, February 17, the Southern Cape Police sCaptain Malcolm Pojie said that there was nothing the police could do if the NPA decided to free a suspect. "We are awaiting the results of forensic tests and thereafter we can arrest him again if the test results connect him to the crime scene." The fact that the man has a Tanzanian passport and that there was a high possibility that he could leave the country before the test results became available, could not be denied by Pojie. A

Illegal confiscation of commercial Agricultural Showgrounds land thwarted two days before public auction

Attempt by ANC-run council to illegally confiscate commercially-owned Nelspruit Showgrounds thwarted two days before public auction --- Nelspruit (renamed by the ruling ANC to "Mbombela") - The long-awaited public auction of the Lowveld Showgrounds, which was announced in September 2013, was accompanied by high drama. The highest bid at the Mercure Hotel of R28million was granted to its bidder Saleh Mohamed after only 10 minutes of bidding. He was acting on behalf of the Devland group with runs the Metro Cash and Carry shops. However the bid was granted with the proviso that there will be seven days grace if anyone puts in a late, higher bid. But before the auction could take place, the local ANC-run city council tried to stop it by submitting a notice at the Lowveld Showgrounds claiming ownership of the property within two days. They were simply going to confiscate the private property. The Showground's director Louis Kotzé said they also received a later official notice from the Nelspruit city council in which they 'distantiate themselves from the intended land-confiscation order'. Kotze said the showgrounds consist of two portions which used to be the original Boer Republican farm Nelspruit – parts 39 and 85. Part 39 is about 8hectares in size and was gifted to the previous municipality in 1952. The proviso included in this land-gift prohibiting the commercial sale of this portion was however already rescinded in 1983. Then the Showgrounds Association purchased a second portion - parcel 85, which serves as the only entrance route into portion 39. "We wanted to trade on these two parcels,' said Kotzé. The Showgrounds Association made enquiries about this and received the reply that the Nelspruit city council demanded that townships would have to be built on portions 84 and 39 as a provision.' The association decided to continue its agricultural trade activities on a land parcel elsewhere which would have fewer restrictions, said Kotze', referring to the limiting zoning proviso of the Showgrounds and the title-deeds limitations they contained. Both portions 39 and 85 were zoned inaccurately. Portion 39 was rezoned by the municipality from agricultural land to "Special: showgrounds'. This also placed the Lowveld Showgrounds Association in the highest taxation level, namely commercial taxes. The showgrounds were privately evaluated at R35million. The municipality had offered R28million for the confiscation of the two parcels which was the municipal valuation. Opposition was received by the South African Communist Party which demanded that the auction be cancelled. They demanded that the land be used 'according to the consitutional purposes, namely 'land-reform'. They objected to the 'colonial methods in which this process is being handled.' 'Land belongs to the landless and the poor,' they said in their propaganda statement. Then the decision was made to hold a public auction to turn over the land to the highest bidder and this intention was published in November 2013 and delivered to the municipality. The municipality meanwhile is helping the Showgrounds Association to find a more suitable land-parcel to carry on their commercial-agricultural activities and wanted to appoint a task-team. However the Showgrounds Association courteously declined this offer. Its legal counsel Johan du Preez pointed out the 'several errors contained in the confiscation notice -and then the municipality withdraw its task-team offcer in a letter which also contained the threat that the Showgrounds land could be confiscated in the future. http://lowvelder.co.za/255851/munisipaliteit-probeer-verkoop-van-laeveld-skouterrein-keer/

Another victim of fraudsters Another Umbilo pensioner has fallen victim to Global Energy scamsters. Lauren Walford | 26 February 2015 12:00 ANOTHER elderly man was defrauded by men from the notorious Global Energy Company recently. Lionel Stewart, an 87-year-old Umbilo resident, lost R16 000 to these men, and contacted the Berea Mail after seeing a recent article about this scam. Stewart said the company had phoned his landlady, Theresa Lassak, on many occasions, and she finally agreed to a meeting with them on 29 January. “The men arrived at 11am. One man stayed in the car and the other, a young, neatly dressed, well-spoken man, talked about load shedding and how it would be continuing for another five years. He said he could give me a system which would cost R160 a month for two years to save on electricity costs, and I fell for it,” said Stewart. He said the man had punched R160 into a card machine, which was brought inside by the second, older man. His card was inserted and he put in his code and signed a letter. Only 10 days later when he went to the ATM to check his account did he see that R16 000 was missing. “I am so careful with my money as I am a pensioner and I have been unwell. I can't sleep at night! I got hold of my daughter, who is helping me with this matter. A woman at my bank said she would motivate for me to get my money back as it was not carelessness on my part. I don't know how that man changed the amount, I also have a limit on my account,” he said. Theresa said the man also conned them out of R760, as he said they had to each pay him R380 for call-outs. “Stupidly we gave him the money, although we didn't call him out. He didn't give us a receipt. This is the same company, with the same address and contact number as reported by Geoff Oldfield in Berea Mail,” she said. She said it was shocking and that usually she got a feeling about people, which she didn't with this man. “He was charming and very professional and looked us straight in the eyes. It is totally disgusting, and I wish someone would take this very seriously and catch these men,” she said. Another resident who laid charges in January advises any victims who used their credit cards to immediately phone their bank’s helpline and report the matter. The same goes for cheques. “It seems to me that people need to be made aware that they can reverse the charges. Maybe this will help some of them,” she said. In response to queries by Berea Mail, eThekwini municipality's communications head, Tozi Mthethwa, said: “eThekwini Municipality has received numerous enquiries to validate suppliers and contractors calling on customers on the pretence of being eThekwini representatives. These suppliers are using the eThekwini name to gain entry into people’s homes, claiming that they want to advise them on energy savings, meter installations and/or readings and to perform other alleged council-related work.” She said the municipality confirms that while it supports all energy efficiency efforts by businesses and residences, it does not endorse any particular product or service unless it falls within an initiative undertaken by the city. “Customers are urged to be vigilant to avoid falling prey to criminals posing as municipal employees. Any representative of the municipality will have an ID tag with a photograph and ID or employee number with the municipal logo,” she said. If residents are suspicious of anything they can call to confirm with the municipality’s 24-hour call centre on 080 131 3111. http://bereamail.co.za/51418/another-victim-of-fraudsters/

Survive: Attie Croucamp 79 and wife Anna 75: attacked, stabbed with scissors: February 28 20 15 - Florida, Roodepoort: Attie Croucamp's's finger bitten to the bone by black attacker trying to get off his wedding band: in the end the only items which were looted were a bread, some cash and 2 cellphones... Thanks to their teenaged granddaughter Monique's quick reaction two black attackers had to flee while they were attacking her grandparents in their Florida, Roodepoort home. Proud dad Marius Croucamp told Maroela Media that 16-year-old Monique was at her grandparents house when the blacks attacked the elderly couple at around 15h40. It's believed the thugs climbed over the pallisades-fencing while Attie was busy gardening. The attackers didn't see Monique - they were too busy threatening the elderly Afrikaner couple with scissors in their bedroom. They grabbed their cellphones to stop them from calling for help and the couple was badly assaulted: "one man bit my dad's finger to the bone trying to bite off his wedding band and they wanted to strangle my mom. She was able to get her hands on her radio and hit one of his head - really hard.' Meanwhile Monique, hiding away, sent a furtive WhatsApp-message to her parents - and her mom immediately called the police and her son Adriaan 19. The son and police showed up simultaneously at the house shortly thereafter - and Adriaan raised a ruckus outside the gate by pushing on the horn of his motorbike. When the two thugs realised that rescuers had arrived for the elderly Afrikaners, they fled on foot - taking a bread, the cellphones and some cash. The couple were taken to the LIfe Flora clinic for medical attention: they also were badly traumatised, as was their granddaughter. The police is investigating, but it's not known if this will be registered in the statistics as attempted murder or as a housebreaking Nobody was arrested. https://www.facebook.com/boerekrisisaksie

Police incompetence complaint by Pedro Ramos 28 February 2015 with video

Complaint of Douglasdale police incompetence lodged by Pedro Ramos - was accused of being drunk, and assaulted him by slapping cellphone from his hands - refused to take formal complaint --------------------- email: pedromiguelramos@gmail.com Date 28 February 2015 Details: Police Douglasdale (South Africa) Refusing to work This whole situation started when 2 customers decided not to settle their alcohol bill (175 ZAR) because they didn't have enough funds. As a normal procedure, the manager calls the police so a case can be opened as this is seen as a crime (Fraud/Theft). Upon arrival of the police officers, nothing was happening, so I requested them to open a case and to start the process of writing down the statements (its a long process that does take some time). Officer Teffu replied no, i was guessing as much, because due to the small value it is to much work to do. I then request the names of the officers as they didnt identify themselves upon arrival. One office (reservist) gave his name - Officer Teffu (It was also visible on his uniform), and the other officer that was wearing a bullet proof vest refused to identify himself. As i noticed he was not going to show his badge (that is located under the vest) and that he was not going to identify himself, i took my phone to start record, however he tried to take the phone out of my hands so i failed to record this episode (I do have CCTV footage of the struggle though). The unidentified officer started calling me drunk (I do not drink alcohol when im working), I did ask him to do a breathalizer test on me, this was also refused. I requested both officers to present themselfs to their station so I could take this matter further. The station in question: SAPS Douglasdale located in Fourways - Sandton, Gauteng (South Africa). I queried to whom should I speak to in order to lodge a claim against officers misconduct. Some officers pointed me out to the Captain that was in charge of the shift. When I approached the Captain to explain the situation, she continuously refused to identify the unidentified officer, and officer Teffu stated that we did not show the unpaid bill to the officers (I have CCTV footage of me showing them both the bill that needed to be settled - Once again, lies!) At this stage I decided to start video recording the whole conversation that can be seen on the video uploaded. The charges I will be opening against these officers are: Refusing to open a case of Fraud/Theft;[/*]Not identifying themselfs and refusing to do so;[/*] Defamation of character; Are these officers above the Law? Clearly they have their own law that they abide too.. not the one taken on oath. What makes this women Captain??? Her hard work? Her ability to discipline officers that are under her command? She refuses to give any names.. and even gets "confused" of who is the senior officer of the shift I think the video speaks for itself... If everybody just decides to consume whatever they feel like in the hospitality industry and refuses to pay.. we might as well be in a jungle. I am sending out my incident enmasse as I do not understand how SAPS can have an incompetent Captain and officers that abide to some different law. The videos are quite explanatory. - Officers refused to open a crime case - 1 Officer refused to identify himself - Captain of Douglasdale refused to open a case of misconduct - Captain refused to identify the unidentified officer . Please see below: http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=a9a_1425129556 Feel free to contact me, I would like to see this taken further action, as we can not have people like these "protecting" us.. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=a9a_1425129556

Brondal farmer Koos Kruger was rushed by HiTech Nelspruit medical services to the Nelspruit Mediclinic in a critical condition and bleeding copiously after he was shot twice in the chest by one of four black males who woke him up at 3am - staring at him in his bed. Kruger was shot by the gunman and injured in the chest and an arm, writes Lowvelder daily. Koos and Leigh Kruger were asleep in their bedroom when six black males attacked their homestead - four men were inside and two others stood guard outside. J&M Security in Nelspruit operational manager Shaun Terblanche said the men first tried to break into the house through the adjacent office but couldn't. They then cut open the burglar bars of another window and climbed inside. When Mr Kruger was shot Mrs Kruger also fell flat and pretended to be dead. "The suspects lifted the couple's arms and dropped them down to check whether they were actually dead. When they were satisfied, they started searching for the gun-safe,' said Terblanche. However while the men were busy searching another room Mrs Kruger stood up and started dragging her bleeding husband from the room. One black male saw her as she ran from the house and two blacks chased her down on the lawn, beating her up. Terblanche said Mrs Kruger suffered non-lifethreatening injuries. All six suspects then left the house, caryring four of the farmer's firearms and also stole some money. They cut the electric fence to flee. It's not known how they knew that the couple had a gun-safe, which are centrally-registered in Pretoria. J&M security was the first to arrive at the scene after the alarm was sounded, and hi-tech medical services, Mpumalanga Emergency Medical Service, Netcare 911 and the police all were contacted. The suspects were not found and residents in the area have been warned to be on the lookout for six black males who now have five firearms between them. http://lowvelder.co.za/255951/man-in-hospitaal-na-skietery-op-plaas/ ================ Survive: Koos and Leigh Kruger, attacked by six armed blacks on Brondal farm Nelspruit Afrikaans report February 28 2015 on Boere Krisis Aksie Plaasaanval vanoggend in die Nelspruit omgewing BRONDAL – ‘n Man is in ‘n stabiele toestand nadat gewapende rowers hom vroeg vanoggend twee keer in sy huis geskiet het.
