Violent crimes increased dramatically in South Africa *ISS Violent crimes that South Africans fear most including murder, attempted murder and robbery have increased dramatically over the past two years, the Institute for Security Studies (ISS) said. This as cases of armed robberies, burglaries, murder, attempted murder and serious assaults tend to noticeably increase over the festive season. ISS crime and justice information hub manager Lizette Lancaster said an analysis of the monthly national crime data for the five years from April 2006 to March 2011 revealed that murder and serious assault increased by as much as 50% during December each year. It was also found that burglary increased by 8% during this period. “(Armed) House robberies (of entire families) increase in the months leading up to the festive season, starting in October and remaining high in December, dropping off by about 11% in January,” said Lancaster. Imagine sitting on a weeknight at 19:45 quietly watching television in your living room. Your wife working on the computer, but the next moment she screams and three men stormed into the home. Mr. Koos Rautenbach (64) said his wife, Elda’s (62) protective motherly instinct had kicked in when she attacked the three armed robbers on Tuesday night December 2, 2014 in their home in Cairn. She and Koos were unarmed. The robbers had a machete, knife and crowbar with them. Elda said she immediately responded when a man with a knife in hand descended on Koos who sat with his back to the door. “When I looked, I only saw three pairs of eyes,” said Koos. The robbers went into the house after they broke the security gate open with the crowbar. Elda stormed the leading man who had a knife. She bumped him out of the way and after that he went straight to the television and immediately picked it up. The man with the machete stormed towards Koos, who threw his attacker with a bowl of soup and his bottle of water. A scuffle followed on the wet floor and the man only could land blows with the flat side of the weapon. The man with the crowbar attacked Elda but left the crowbar for a hammer from the dining room. Elda shielded herself with her arms. Luckily the hammer head broke off and thankfully she was not seriously injured. The whole incident lasted about two minutes. Besides the television, the robbers on the way out also took the Rautenbachs’s cell phones. Afterwards the couple faced the frightening evidence of the security cameras. It shows the suspects were around the house for half an hour looking for a place to enter. “The worst feeling is that they have entered into our space,” says Koos emotionally. They pressed the panic button just after the attack and J & M Security, Bossies Community Justice (BCJ), Hall’s security and ER24 was quickly on the scene. The ambulance crew determined that both were only slightly injured. They say they are grateful for the good service. “We are grateful that we did not get hurt, but it’s a silly argument… it should not have happened in the first place” said Koos. Motivational speaker Sjoerd Alkema 48 survived with two bullets in his body when an armed black male fired seven shots at him at his smallholding at Walkerville's Walkers Fruit Farms suth of Johannesburg, All the shots were fired at close-range and it's miracle that he survived. There seemed no motivation: nothing was robbed. The man simply fired off his shots and fled. He and wife Johanna were walking from their main gate to their smallholding's homestead at Walkers Fruit Farms. Just as Johanna had gone inside a black man with a 9mm pistol sat staring at the Afrikaner man, and fired three shots through the door just as Alkema closed it behind him. It happened around 21h35. He was struck by one bullet in a hip but it was a fleshwound. Johanna fled to the bedroom of their daughter Hannecke (16) while Alkema rushed to their bedroom to GET HIS GUN OUT OF HIS GUNSAFE and to call for help. Meanwhile the man broke through the door and fired four more shots at Alkema, with one bullet striking his right leg near the ankle. Alkema also fired back and the attacker fled wordlessly. His son Whinsky (20) rushed from a hut near the house when he heard the first shots and called his uncle, Sjoerd's brother in law dr. Gerrie Bezuidenhoudt. Bezuidenhoudt warned the youth not to go outside. Alkema estimated that the attack took no longer than two minutes and the police, the aDT-security company and members of the local commuinity forum were on the scene within three minutes. Sjoerd is completing his doctoral thesis on the subject of Bible-founded mental healing - and he helps people get over their fears. Pretoria law-student Arielle Bourbon horribly beaten by women in “wild rage” A young third year law student was severely beaten, kicked and stepped on by two women in the parking area of a popular venue in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Arielle Bourbon was so badly beaten with fists, kicked and stepped on with high heels that the 23-year-old had to receive treatment at Wilgers Hospital – fearing that she might have sustained permanent damage to her one eye. Bourbon, a former horse jumping champion who is currently in her third year law studies at the University of Pretoria, was pounced on by the two women after one of them – described as having "long dark hair," repeatedly and loudly called the white student “fat”. “When I told her that her comment was totally uncalled for, her blonde friend attacked me out of the blue, hitting me with her fists in my face,” Bourbon, still in pain and traumatised, said. After being pushed and beaten and her hair pulled by both women, she eventually ended up on the floor of the parking area, rolling herself into a ball in an attempt to protect herself from the attack which was clearly captured on a closed circuit television camera. The video footage shows how Bourbon was being kicked and stepped on with high heel shoes. “This all happened while the security guard on duty watched the attack with his hands in his pockets,” Bourbon said, adding that the guard had said he refused to assist her ‘as his personal safety came first’. On Wednesday, a case of common assault was opened by Bourbon at the Brooklyn police station, and the matter was being investigated, Lt. Linda Jerling said on Friday. However, Bourbon on Friday morning said that they had since established the identity of her attackers and will lay further charges against the women. “I believe they must pay for what they have done.” “We are also considering action against the security guard and the company he works for.” The name of the security company is known to Rekord, but comment could not be obtained about the demeanor of the guard. Bourbon, who lives in Wapadrand in the east of Pretoria, said that she had initially not reacted, but admitted that she had started hitting back during the assault, saying that after the first few blows to her face she had “stripped” and started defending herself. “The two women were in a wild rage,” she said, adding that she still had difficulty sleeping and was being plagued by nightmares. The case showing all the signs of unraveling: its main witness and accusor, the disabled (blind, epileptic, handless) farm-worker's son Flippie Engelbrecht, now 19, the parents believbe, was kidnapped by the secretary of their sponsor the freedom trust. The 'assault victim' Flippie Engelbrecht lodged an assault charge dating from five years ago,with the Freedom Trust claiming his present disablement was due to the alleged assault. Die Son newspaper has reported on October 7 2013. He disappeared after he and his parents reportedly drank themselves into a stupor over the weekend at a safe house in Grabouw - which was being paid for by the ANC-funded political organisation, the Freedom Trust which has also helped them launch their case. The parents accused the Freedom Trust's Carina Papenfus of kidnapping Flippie and demand that she brings him back. Papenfus has lodged charges of damage at the Grabour police station against the father of the youth. The Engelbrecht parents were reportedly thrown out by the Freedom Trust after they nearly sat the house on fire in a drunken bout - and in turn the parents now also accuse its secretary Carina Papenfus to dupe them into signing 'divorce papers'. The parents and the other children of the Engelbrecht couple are the main witnesses in the case and they have reportedly now turned enmasse against Carina Papenfus, the controversial disbarred lawyer who is the secretary for the Freedom Trust. --------------- Flippie was apparently taken away by an ambulance for an unknown destination when he suffered an epileptic fit on October 7 2013 after his parents were thrown out of the safe house with the help of the police. ------------ Flippie, now 19, caused international headlines after he launched assault charges - aided by the Freedom Trust -- against the late wine farmer Johnny Burger and his foreman Wilhelm 'Cozi' Treurnicht. ----------------------- The case will be heard again on 14 October 2013. Mr Burger committed suicide after the previous arraignment - when the two men were surrounded by a mob and threatened with 'burning'. They managed to get away just in time. The case against Mr Burger was dropped - but the State insisted on continuing the case against Mr Treurnicht, who has not yet been asked to plead to any charges. This is expected to happen in the Worcester court on 14 October 2013. They were forced to leave without Flippie after an alleged boozing session by the parents, Flip and Katriena Engelbrecht. They phoned Die Son newspaper journalist on October 7 2013, complaining that the secretary of the Freedom Trust Carina Papenfus had them thrown out. They said 'officials' took Flippie away. The incident was confirmed by Mrs Maurencia Gillian of the Freedom Trust who said that Flippie's parents had been 'drinking' and the father had become 'rowdy'. When the couple refused to sign the documents, Papenfus allegedly 'threw them out.' Papenfus denied the allegation. She also railed against the couple's alcoholic habits, saying that 'the place where they were living nearly burned down because they were so drunk.' The chairman of the Freedom trust, Mrs Maurencia Gillian, asked for comment, claimed that the 'Trust wanted to support the Engelbrecht family from the start of the trial to protect Flippie. "It's heartbreaking to see the parents turning against us like this. We heard last Wednesday that 'some of the farmers offered money to witnesses to not testify at the assault trial against Dozi Treurnicht. "Rumours are also spread that a cash offer was made to Flippie's parents to withdraw the assault charges altogether.' The SAPS did not intervene and only by managing to drive away did Burger manage to save their lives. Shortly thereafter, the traumatised farmer committed suicide. His workers wept at his funeral and shortly thereafter, the 'charges' against him were dropped and Dozi Engelbrecht's case was moved to the Robertson regional court - but with little chance of success. Only AFTER Johnny Burger's suicide did the Cape Times publish many details from the health-department documents showing Flippie Engelbrecht's medical records -- which proved that Carina Papenfus' 'evidence' was badly flawed, and that Flippie Engelbrecht's injuries were not caused as she had claimed. And it was also revealed that there also are three different versions of the dates Flippie had allegedly been 'assaulted' -- from three of his closest relatives. Carina Papenfus was further exposed when the news media published documents showing that she was a disbarred, legally-bankrupt lawyer who mishandled many cases and had even defrauded her own black workers in dishonest land-registration deals. ANC REVEALS THAT IT FOUNDED THE FREEDOM TRUST AND APPOINTED PAPENFUS AS ITS SECRETARY Then a senior Western Cape ANC leader, Marius Fransman, the deputy-minister of international relations, jumped into the fray and publicly defending Papenfus. He revealed that the ANC itself had founded the Freedom Trust, and that it was "its mission to fight for the rights of farm-workers". The Freedom Trust had been founded six months earlier by Maurencia Gillion, the ex-mayor of the Overberg-district municipality and a member of the ANC-party's provincial executive council. Two of the Freedom Trust's trustees were ANC-councillors in the Berg River municipality, namely Sanet Smit and Cathy Booysen-Nefdt, who defected from the Democratic Alliance to the ANC. Papenfus was appointed as the secretary of the Trust and its only public spokesperson. DIRECT LINKS BETWEEN ANC WERE KEPT QUIET BY PAPENFUS: However these direct links with the trust to the ANC were kept secret by Papenfus while she was planting her false evidence against the two men in the news media: the ANC links were not revealed until the first court appearance in Ashton. Afrikaner man Leon Badenhorst, 59 's head and throat were cleaved open in a motiveless murder: two black people arrested. Chris Grobler, 43, killed -- a truck and a passenger vehicle ran across him as he ran for his life from black gunmen in Witbank: November 23, Duvha Road: "A man was killed as he ran for his life after escaping from hijackers. Mr Chris Grobler 43 was travelling in his car along the Duvha Road on Sunday November 23 2014. Grobler turned into the lodge-entrance at the Duvha Road where he lives where a group of black gunmen were waiting for him and ambushed him. Grobler managed to get out of his vehicle and he started to run. He ran straight in front of a truck and then another car also drove over him. Grobler was declared dead on the scene. Will the SA Police Service place this in their faulty 'crime statistics' as the MURDER this was? Or will this just be brushed aside as a 'culpible homicide traffic accident?"
