X-ray machine-company owner Roelof du Plessis, 51, shot dead on his farm Vaalbank Bronkhorstspruit/Cullinan: fighting for son's life: June 26 2013 - Fifty-one-year-old Afrikaner businessman Roelof du Plessis was shot dead while fighting for the life of his 18-year-old son, being attacked by five armed black males in their homestead at 23h45 Wednesday June 26 June 2013. Maroela Media journalist Phillip Bruwer quotes the SAPS as saying that the five black men managed to break into the du Plessis homestead on the farm Vaalbank in the Bronkhorstspruit-Cullinan area of Gauteng. SAPS constable Zanele Vilakazi said "the men went to the son's bedroom, started assaulting him and dragged the youth to the living room'. Du Plessis rushed to his son's aid - and was shot repeatedly in his upper body. The five males then reportedly fled. There was no report of anything having been 'robbed'. The SAPS are investigating a case of murder. And while they have not arrested anyone thus far, they have 'confiscated a weapon'.
