Empoverished Afrikaner widow Lena-Maria Jackson beaten: tortured with hot iron because she only had R40
30 Aug 2013 Empoverished, sixty-two year old widow Mrs Lena Maria Jackson was brutally assaulted and tortured with a hot iron because 'she only had R40 to give to her black male attackers.
Mrs Jackson was attacked by a group of knifemen in her Thornville farmhouse south of Pietermaritzburg around midnight Aug 30.
She was ambushed by the men when she was awakened by 'a noise' and was confronted by the knifemen. "They tied up my hands with rubber bands. They demanded money. I am a pensioner and only had R40 in cash in the house.
"Because this money wasn't enough for them they started stabbing me with their knives and then tortured me with a hot iron on my back.
The lights were off and they did all this while shining a torch in my eyes. "I was able to turn on the lights while they screamed at me to turn them back off and not to look at their faces.
They even got angry because the alarm went off when the lights were turned on.
The most painful thing they did to her however was when they broken open the little box containing her late husband Ronald's ashes.
'The ashes were strewn all over the lving room floor. They didn't care and walked all over his ashes,' she wept.
They turned her house opside down looking for valuables. Eventually they fled with two cheap cellphones, her shotgun and used her Hyundai bakkie as a getaway: it was found abandoned in Isipingo township.
She was able to free herself from her bonds and alerted farm worker Simon Dube. "I think they burnt some drugs outside the windows to have me sleep as deeply as I did before the attack, because I cannot believe
that all those things happened and I heard nothing,' claimed Dube'.
SAPS lt Joey Jeevan said anyone with any information may contact the investigating officer, warrant officer Mandlenkosi Mpulo of the Thornville detective branch at telephone
033 251 0671 or 082 459 6042. She was taken to y Netcare911 to a Pietermaritzburg hospital

A 63-year-old farm-woman from a farm near Thornville, KZN (north of Howick) is in a critical condition at Netcare Hospital after she was 'burnt seriously' and 'assaulted with a blunt weapon', reports Netcare911 spokesman Chris Botha. "She was stabilised at the scene and taken to a Netcare hospital for further treatment'.
Yet the KZN police spokesman colonel Jay Naicker merely said she was 'assaulted' - completely censoring out the horrific torture-ordeal she had endured. Chris Botha can be reached at http://www.netcare911.co.za/live/content.php?Category_ID=2263
