UPDATE on murder of pharmacist Vivien Ponté, 57, Oranjeville:
Tuesday 20 August 2013 SAPS constable Peter Kareli of the Sasolburg SAPS - who are investigating the gruesome murder of Italian-born pharmacist Vivien Ponté last Sunday in the small Free State town of Oranjeville - was arrested after the police found that the hard-drive from Ms Ponté laptop computer had allegedly been removed. The police in Sasolburg had asked the unnamed woman - identified as a colleague of Ms Ponté who shared the same office space -- to hand over all the property belonging to the murdered Ms Ponté - and this included her laptop computer. (Attached: PAGE VIEW picture summarising Ms Ponté's murder).
Said the police officer, as quoted by Beeld: "She (Ms Ponté's colleague) drove from Johannesburg to Oranjeville on Friday to hand over Ms Ponté's private property, but she was arrested when we found that the hard-drive had been removed from Ms Ponté 's laptop computer'. Kareli said the woman will appear for arraignment on Wednesday August 21 2013 in the Heilbron magistrate's court. It's not known which charges will be lodged against the colleague nor what role she played in the gruesome murder: Ms Ponté apparently was also raped before she was tied to her bed and died in her torched bedroom.
Ms Ponté's private property was located in the office-premises she shared with her unnamed colleague.
Meanwhile four black South African men made a brief remand-appearance in Heilbron magistrate's court, said Karelli. They are suspected of murder, robbery and arson.
He named them as Moses Motloung (23), Johannes Mofokeng (24), Jeremiah Mnune (26) and Moleketi Motloung (21).
Beeld reported that one of the two Motloung men had made a statement to the magistrate - however this will only be published during the 'formal hearing'.
It is believed that the four South Africans also broke in that same night of the Ponté murder in Oranjeville's Kraanvoëlvlakte Primary School and stole food and money.

It is also noted that while the news media described Ms Vivien Ponté as a 'pharmacist', the official registrar for all pharmacists and student-pharmacists and pharmacies in South Africa has no official record of a 'Vivien Ponté' registered with them as a 'pharmacist'. (page view attached)
