Afrikaner Louis van Wyk bludgeoned to death in cruel attack on him and life-partner Annatjie Joubert in municipal house, Nigel. (Inaccuracy: No report that anything was 'robbed' in any of the news media reporting this; however all the SA journalists quoted including in News24.com refer to this brutal bludgeoning-murder as 'robbery' and the attackers as 'robbers'. Annatjie van Wyk reportedly still in critical condition in Heidelberg Hospital. No details were provided of her injuries.

Nigel Heraut: Magda Maritz writes that when the gardener of the 77-year-old couple Louis van Wyk and Lifepartner Annatjie Van Wyk couple living in Municipal House 133, Sub Nigel, knocked on the door to talk to them, he got no reply on 29 July 2013.He looked through the bedroom window from the outside and saw their two bodies on the floor. The alerted police forced entry to the house and found Louis' blood-coated body at the entrance of the main bedroom. (Picture attached): the Blood-smeared walls and a huge blood puddle on the mats 'testified to a cruel attack,' wrote Magda Maritz of the Heraut newspaper in Heidelberg/Nigel. She wrote that Mr Louis van Wyk was disabled and used a wheelchair to get around. The old man was bludgeoned to death: 'hit several times by a heavy metal object over the head and in the face.' His dentures were found on the mat nearby. His life partner Annatjie Joubert 77, also was horribly assaulted (Heraut does not provide details) -- she was 'found fighting for her life" and rushed to Heidelberg Hospital by ambulance. "A broken window in one of the rooms in the rear explains how the 'robbers' gained access the house. It's unknown how many 'robbers' were involved in the murder and criminal assaults.

(NOTE: The Heraut journalist also refers to it constantly as a 'robbery' and the attackers as 'robbers', but does not indicate if anything was even robbed. Our telephone enquiry with the SAPS also did not reveal whether anything was 'robbed'.)
--------------------
Louis' brother Neels told Heraut that he was horrendously shocked by the cruel and violent way in which his brother had died. He has difficulty 'processing it', he said.
"This attack was brutal and by people without any conscience', said Neels.
