Father/son Jan and Nicholis du Plessis (10) attacked by two black men on bridge near Ontdekkers Road, Witpoortjie
19 July 2013 Riaan van Zyl writes: "The Du Plessis family got a sour welcome after they recently moved from Corlett avenue to Witpoortjie. When father Jan du Plessis and ten-year-old son Nicholis were walking enroute to Ontdekkers Road to meet their drive to work and school, they were attacked by two black males on a bridge.
The Afrikaner father and son were grabbed from behind, thrown to the ground and assaulted: Jan du Plessis was stabbed with a breadknife. "My little son just ran crying and screaming to our home while the cars simply drove past after I was assaulted,' he said.
What made it even worse is that they stole his work-tools - essential for his livelihood and that of his family.
We asked around, said his mom afterwards. '' We found out there are regular incidents on that bridge. My husband only required a few stitches but the next person won't be that lucky. We want people to be alert there', she said.
