R100 000 reward for two black-African male Zimbabwean suspects for murder of David Shaw 31 May 2013 Steers Columbine Crossing THE morning got off to a tragic start for the Steers staff at the Mabaleng Centre on Columbine Road, Friday May 31. 31 May 2013 (by Zesuliwe Hadebe) -- It is reported that the manager was shot in front of the other hostages after he tried to put up a fight. He was pronounced dead on the scene. An unconfirmed number of assailants entered the store around 09:45 and ordered the staff to lie down, thereafter, they looted the tills. Mondeor Victim Support Counsellor Steve Mentz said that the manager was shot once in his shoulder and the bullet passed through and came out his back. The security officer, who responded immediately after the panic button was pressed, confirmed that the manager was still alive when he arrived. Pressure was applied to the wound to minimise the bleeding and paramedics were called, however, it was too late to save the victim. The SAP chopper and Flying Squad were dispatched to look for the robbers, who are still at large. Sector 2 Community Patrollers, JMPD and Mondeor SAP responded to the alert in a matter of minutes but the assailants had already fled the scene. “We’re very saddened by this and we know that the perpetrators will be brought to justice. Our sincerest condolences go out to the victim’s family and the staff members,” stated Mondeor CPF Michelle Pelser. No one else was hurt and the traumatised family members of the victim and the survivors, all received trauma counselling. http://www.looklocal.co.za/looklocal/content/en/joburg-south/joburg-south-news-crime?oid=7508966&sn=Detail&pid=1171167&Manager-killed-during-robbery-on-Columbine----------- PICTURES OF SUSPECTS ATTACHED: 1.
