Survive: ex-South African Police couple col. Ansie Joubert 57 and Joep Joubert 58, attacked by six gunmen who scream: 'We Are Killers...'
March 31 2015 - Strangely, only the couple's four-month-old pug puppy and a tv-set were robbed... the couple's vehicle was used as a getaway car and was found on a highway the same night, abandoned.
Elandshoek Nelspruit. Colonel Ansie Joubert and her husband Joep had just returned from an ocean-side vacation to their smallholding in Elandshoek, Nelspruit.
Ansie was unpacking their bags in the bedroom and he had just flopped down on the bed when two armed blacks kicked out the windows and pointed their guns at the Afrikaner couple.
Their farm is located about 40km from Nelspruit, where Colonel Joubert was a former police station commander before her retirement.
The men kept screaming 'We are Killers, over and over again, ' and said they were going to shoot us, said Ansie to the Lowvelder newspaper, published by Caxton publishing group.]

The Lowvelder interviewed the couple outside a church near Nelspruit where the couple had gone to get trauma counselling after their ordeal.
Joep initially thought he might 'stand a chance' because the blacks kept pulling the triggers but no shots went off. Joep even tried to take away one man's gun by throwing a duvet over him: "I realized that they didn't have any ammo or didn't know how to cock the weapons.
I decided to fight back'. However at that point four more men came storming in - they had broken through the study's windows. Five of the six men were carrying firearms.
The couple was grabbed and tied up. "Several times they put firearms to our throats and heads and pulled the triggers, and each time there was just a click,' he said.
Ansie: "You wait for death. You wait for that bang'.
Joep's son Pieter who teaches at the Afrikaans primary school Bergland was also at home and rushed to his parents' bedroom but the security door was locked.
His father screamed at his son to flee and the son fled into the woods. The thugs then took Ansie into the bathroom and she feared she would be raped or tortured and started praying - loudly.
I said to myself that if that happened I would prefer to die. They kept telling me to shut up but I kept praying more softly, asking the Lord that if it was His will that I should die,
he must forgive me all my sins.' Joep also was taken to the bathroom and forced to lie in the bathtub. The couple were locked up here and fled in Pieter's VW Polo.
The only 'valuables' they took were a tv-set, some cash - and strangely, the couple's four-month-old pug dog...
The couple sustained cuts to their hands and their son returned to the homestead after the attackers fled in the car.
The emergency services showed up quickly - Bossies Community Justice, the local SAPS, the Leeulopers and all their friends.
"No-one can prepare you for such an ordeal. The Lord kept His Hand over us."

ELANDSHOEK – Die oud-stasiebevelvoerder van Mbombela Polisiestasie en sy vrou wat Vrydagnag op hul plaas aangeval is, het Laevelder van hul nagmerrie-ondervinding vertel. Laevelder het Saterdag berig dat die paartjie deur ses verdagtes oorval is, waarvan vyf gewapen was. Mnr. Joep Joubert het verskeie snywonde opgedoen.

Saterdag 28 Maart 2015: Oud-stasiebevelvoerder beseer tydens plaasaanval
ELANDSHOEK – ‘n Oud-stasiebevelvoerder van Mbombela, mnr. Joep Joubert (58) en sy vrou, Ansie (57), is gisteraand deur ses verdagtes op hul plaas in dié omgewing aangeval.
Volgens kapt. Piet Smit van die Ngodwana-polisiestasie was vyf van die verdagtes gewapen.
Hulle het op die vlug geslaan met ‘n Volkswagen Polo.
Die voertuig is reeds teruggevind.
Joubert het verskeie snywonde opgedoen en sy vrou is na ‘n nabygeleë hospitaal geneem vir behandeling.
Die verdagtes is steeds op vrye voet.
