Black man attacks Afrikaner woman, 41 with her 3 young children: tells her 'today I will kill you', rapes her in front of terrified 8-year-old daughter 27 Mar 2015 Due to the fact that the young woman was raped, we are not allowed to publish the victimised family's name. The family was just busy moving from Lephalale to the homestead in Vaalwater on a farm and the husband drove off to fetch the last load of household goods when the black man struck against the young family. The 41-year-old Afrikaner woman was attacked on Monday 23 March on the rental farm near Witfontein some 30 km from Vaalwater. The family was busy unpacking. Her distraught mother said she was still talking to her daughter at 10h50 when she was still busy unpacking. "I couldn't believe it when I got a call from my son-in-law saying that he found my daughter bloodied and in shock at the house they were moving into.' She said the three children were 'very likely playing in the room' when they heard a hard knock against the backdoor. The grandchildren told their grandmom that 'they saw mom fighting with a man at the backdoor, then he dragged her outside. The eight-year-old daughter told her grandmom: --- "The man shouted very ugly things to Mommy such as 'Today I am going to kill you' ( ‘vandag gaan ek jou vrek maak', in Afrikaans). The little girl also told this to the investigating police and to Die Pos journalist. She said: "When my daddy arrived at the house with the bakkie full of goods my mommy was lying in the grass next to the house, crying. He jumped out and ran to her.' said the little girl. Meanwhile the other children - a daughter, 6 and son 4, hid away in the bathroom while their mom was being attacked. Strangely -- in view of the fact that most of the household goods were still in boxes -- only a few electronics were ' robbed ' - cellphone, laptop computer, telephone rechargers. What happened next proves the power of the internet: Local resident Popsie Fletcher placed a call for help on the Facebook page for Vaalwater. And within minutes a large group of people descended on the farm together with the police from the Vaalwater- en Dorset Police Station. Volunteers from the Save the Waterberg Rhino-project, the Waterberg Ranger Services, the Quemic private security group, many farmers and other volunteers descended on the farm and organised themselves into searching parties. The local SAPS dog-unit and a forensic team also helped in the search as did skilled trackers from the Mokopane police team. This is not the first attack on farms in this area: Saska Dercksen said 'a thief also robbed our house on Friday 13 March just 500 metres away from the house where the woman was attacked with her children.' "We immediate let the police know when we saw a man's face looking in from outside. I got a bad fright and screamed: 'what do you want'. I yelled at the kids and we closed all the windows and doors. I was terrified that it was the same man who had burgled us earlier'. Mrs Dercksen said after the police told her they 'could do nothing because it was not a burglary,' she contacted her friend Yolanda Hattingh (néé Nel) to tell her about the man. Hattingh tried to reach her at the farm but was involved in a car crash with reverend Johan Bosman of the Dutch Reformed Church at Vaalwater - at the town's only four-way crossing. "I was terrified when I tried to contact Saska and couldn't get any response. I feared the worst. I was so frightened that I would arrive on the farm to find them injured or murdered... now I realise that the suspect must by then already have been enroute to rob another house...' Both Dercksen and Hattingh are convinced that the same man who robbed Dercksen in a breakin also attacked their new neighbour and the three children. http://diepos.linmedia.co.za/articles/crime/29926/2015-03-27/
