Survives attack by three armed blacks: Quick-thinking jewellery-store owner Sherri-Leigh Du Preez prepared for attack Kempton Park: " In the end the one thief had to pay for his watch...." March 6 2015 - The owner of a jewellery store in Glen Balad Mall was more than prepared for three robbers who attempted to rob her store on Friday morning. Sherri-Leigh du Preez quickly pressed a panic button when two armed men entered the shop at around 10am. Du Preez believes a customer who bought a watch prior to the incident, was in on the crime: as she opened the security door for him to leave, the two armed men were ready to come in. Little did they know she was prepared. “I suspected the man as he looked very suspicious. He was not at ease so I kept a close eye on him. "As soon as the other robbers entered, I pressed the panic button. An alarm went off. The three got cold feet and ran away,” said Du Preez. Du Preez, two of her staff members and a customer were in the store when the watchbuyer entered. Kempton Park SAPS spokesman, Capt Jethro Mtshali, confirmed nothing was stolen and the case was under investigation.
