Survive: Afrikaans daily journalists Beeld.com Leanne George and Deaan Vivier hijacked by violent protestors on N4 near Majakaneng near Brits, NW Rustenburg: Beeld reports that their team from Pretoria 's office were enroute on the N4 and the R104 highway to Brits to cover violent rioting in the area, when they were kidnapped in their company car just outside Majakaneng. A man in a group attacke and slapped the door of the passenger seat where Ms George was seated. She hastily tried to call the news office to ask for help but was only able to scream a name before her phone went offline. Some four men plucked open Vivier's door and forced him from the car at knifepoint, he said. Ms George also was grabbed from the car. "One guy grabbed me from behind around my body, and I turned around, managed to get out of his grip and ran straight into oncoming traffic,' the still shocked Ms George told her colleagues. A man in a silver car saw her running on the highway - and he turned around despite the large crowd of rioters to help her. "I only know his name as Solomon. He was an angel, he turned around to come and help me. I ran into the veld." Their attackers demanded that Vivier showed them how to activate the car and the rioters fled in the vehicle. Solomon picked up the two journalists and took them to a crossing where traffic police were located, and from there the team was picked up by a police woman and taken to the Mooinooi police station. Beeld editor Adriaan Basson said he was 'shocked' about the incident. 'It's always a shock when CRIME touches the people closest to you,' he said. "We are terribly grateful that Leanne and Deaan were not injured. It shows that noone is immune to CRIME,' he said. The Tracker-service traced their company car and the police are investigating. Beeld reported that violent rioters have torched four trucks and two passenger cars since Sunday on the N4 and are endangering motorists by stone-throwing. They are protesting the lack of clean municipal water, it is believed. Vivier added a warning: "motorists are cautioned to not use the R104 and the N4 highway. It is very dangerous.' http://www.netwerk24.com/nuus/2015-02-04-beeld-verslagspan-gekaap
