The unidentified black male appeared in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court after a preliminary investigation by the Muldersdrift police led to his arrest on Thursday, 15 January. Police spokesman Lucky Matome said police had "found Henderson with stab wounds to his upper body and is still unsure about the motive for the murder."

Gauteng police said on Saturday that no arrests have been made in the murder of old-age pensioner of Lindley, Charles Henderson, 61, who died in his widow's arms. The Muldersdrift couple were attacked and badly assaulted on Thursday 8 January 2015 on their smallholding in Lindley, near Muldersdrift.
EXTENSIVE PROOF OF MENTAL AND PHYSICAL TORTURE:
There is extensive proof of torture: the husband was bludgeoned with a spade after he had stepped outside to investigate a noise. He was then dragged inside where the couple were TIED TOGETHER with ropes and then the husband was bludgeoned to death with a spade - attempts were clearly made to hack off his head -- while his face was just inches away from his terrified wife's face. The mental and physical torture hasleft the widow badly distraught, traumatised and badly bruised.

At about midnight the client, an elderly man heard the dogs barking outside. He went to his storeroom where he was surprised by four armed suspects (two with firearms and two with knives). He was hit with a wooden post (?) and a brick and left outside.
They then went into the house where they found his elderly wife. They tied her up and severely assaulted her as well. It is believed that the client then stumbled back into the house where he surprised the suspects in the kitchen. One of them then hit him at the back of his head with a shovel. He died on the kitchen floor due to the severe head injury. They then proceeded to assault his wife, asking for money and firearms and threatened her with savage behavior. They took time to drink some alcohol and made arrangements for a car to come and collect the loot.
They ransacked the house and made off with four firearms, ammunition, cash, cell phones, computers, IPAD and other valuables.
The severely injured woman battled to free herself for quite some time and then succeeded to push the panic button. When the Iron Fist Squad and Tactical Reaction Units arrived at the scene they found her sitting with her husband’s head on her lap in the kitchen.
SAPS Muldersdrift was called to the scene and our friend Sergeant Manana is investigating. These ruthless murdering suspects now have four firearms with ammunition and we are HUNTING. Jarques has already tasked an informer and the Specialised Investigation Unit is on the case.
Our deepest condolences to the family and friends. I have spoken to the client’s son in law who also said that the deceased client’s daughter is expecting twins and they are trying to minimize the shock on her. The client's wife was admitted to hospital for her injuries.They are in our prayers:

Lt-Col Lungelo Dlamini said investigations into the murder and assault of an elderly man, the assault of his wife and robbery of their house continued. "I can't anymore," were the last words Charles Henderson, 61, said to his wife Jenna, 60, before he died, Beeld reported on Saturday.
The couple were tied with their backs to each other after men stormed their house on Thursday night after 11pm. Beeld reported that Henderson heard the dog barking outside and when he went to investigate he was attacked with a shovel and a brick.
Jenna Henderson struggled for three hours after her husband died to get loose. Their son-in-law Paul Orffer said Charles Henderson lost a lot of blood and died for R600, cellphones, a TV, DVD player and an iPad.
Orffer said his father-in-law was hit over the head with a brick a couple of metres from the kitchen door and dragged inside, while his mother-in-law was kicked in the head and hit.
He said a man was arrested after being traced with the iPad, but Dlamini denied anyone had been arrested.
