EFF fails in attempt to have court order set aside by Mariska Batt on 22 January, 2015
Supporters of the EFF today failed in their attempt on behalf of illegal squatters to have an interim court order obtained in December set aside in the North Gauteng High Court.
The illegal squatters and EFF supporters in December erected unlawful structures on the farm Bultfontein, north of Pretoria. A court order was subsequently obtained after which the structures were removed by the Red Ants. The order would’ve been made permanent today.
This morning the EFF’s legal representative attempted to have the interim order set aside. The case has already been heard and has been postponed to 10 March 2015. This gives the legal representatives the opportunity to study and reply to the opposing papers that were handed in by the illegal squatters late yesterday afternoon.
“Through our branch structures we give communities across South Africa the capability to claim their rights and with this court case we are standing up for the protection of the right of ownership,” says Tarien Cooks, AfriForum’s provincial coordinator for North Gauteng.
