The economic freedom front party's leaders in greater Pretoria have vowed to have their supporters occupy every piece of fallow land in the suburbs and townships of Greater Pretoria. They will be targetting all land - smallholdings, suburbs and townships included. Any land which is 'open' and 'unused' will be occupied, the leaders have vowed at a decision taken on 24 January 2015
at a joint meeting of community leaders representing 9,000 families in sonamed currently illegally occupied land-parcels 'Malemaville, Dali Mpofuville and Asijiki' The meeting was held at Pienaarsville near Mamelodi after the Pretoria mayoress
Kgosientso Ramokgopa threatened to hit the EFF with court-orders to prevent the illegal invasion of privately owned land-sites. The EFF leaders said 'no court order will stop us from carrying out our political programme to occupy land to build houses on'. "We are willing to die for land', they said. One EFF leader Sello Mokoti said they aren't going to occupy open land in the townships - but anywhere in greater Pretoria, the suburbs, the smallholdings, if there's fallow land 'we will occupy it and build our houses on it'.
Nellmapius EFF leader Jeremia Msiza, said they have decided at the meeting to support one another's communities. "If land is occupied in the suburbs we will support such actions. That's our party policy. "
EFF leader in Malemaville Eddie Mathiba, said the shortage of land and homeless 'is a burden our communities have to carry daily.'We have mobilised because the government has failed to occupy land over the past 20 years. We took the initiative and have granted ourselfs land. Nobody owns land, nobody arrived on earth with a bucket full of land.'
