Survives: Brian Jacobsen, farmer of Molteno, stabbed by trial-awaiting escaped prisoners Friday Nov 7 2014 "I knew it was the end,' he told Burger daily newspaper. "I told them to take the bakkie and the cash when I felt the cold barrel of the gun against my head and heard the trigger clicking. It failed to go off, but then he was stabbed by one of the thugs. The two blacks also threatened to come and kill him. The farmer became the victim of two of the four trial-awaiting prisoners who escaped near Burgersdorp by simply kicking open the police-van they were being transported in.Jacobsen, who also is an insurance company's agent, told die daily newspaper that he had stopped to open a farm-gate at the turn-off of the tarmac-road between Dordrecht and Molteno and had just climbed from his bakkie when the two black males rushed him; one armed with a knife, the other with a handgun. While lying on the ground he spoke to them in Xhosa, English and Afrikaans, telling them they could take his bakkie 'which was full of petrol' and his wallet. But they just kept searching my clothes while pushing the firearm's barrel to my head. I knew it was the end. I sent a prayer and asked the Lord to take control of the situation. And then the trigger was pulled... and nothing happened'. The only thing I remember is that a farmer and two of his workers were also tied down and dumped on the ground next to me: they had apparently driven past and tried to help me. "It's not known whether the gun was locked or whether it had no ammunition, but in any case, I survived.' However his nightmare didn't stop there. The doctor who treated him afterwards advised him to have HIV-tests done because the blood of the attackers could have mingled with his when they stabbed him twice. And the violent men threatened to 'come and find them at the farmhouse, so we now live in fear of a double-threat: HIV-infection and the murder-threat'. The police said that the two escaped convicts, identified as Alingene Hlazo and Bonginkosi Sofoni, were still at large. However the police did shoot dead the other two escapees in a gunfight. It's not known how the prisoners managed to get hold of the guns. https://www.facebook.com/boerekrisisaksie/posts/1001332209893324
