Bassett Alarms reports an armed attack on Kuilsrivier farm by two black males: security company secured crime scene until police arrived, and also recovered 'robbed' vehicle: the unidentified white family was physically unharmed but traumatised: http://www.bassettalarms.co.za/watchdog/crime-trends/kuilsriver 08/11/2014 At around 23h14 Response Officer Vermeulen was stopped by a very emotional lady at a Fuel Garage in SonEike, Kuilsriver, she explained to him that her mother had been attacked on their farm on the corner of Bottelary and Stellenbosch road. Officer Vermeulen radioed the incident in for back up, Officer Wiese came his assistance straight away. Together they escorted the lady to the farm. Our Operations Manager, Mark Horstman was also notified of the incident. Upon their arrival at the farm, Officer Wiese requested that our Bassett Central Station contact the SAPS to come investigate. The lady and her son-in-law’s father greeted our Officers at the entrance of the main house. She explained to them that at around 22h45 two black suspect males wearing balaclavas entered their front door both armed with pistols. They demanded her vehicle keys and tied her up with electrical wires. She pleaded with them to not hurt her. They said they won’t if she keeps quiet then covered her with a blanket. They proceeded to ransack the house, taking TV’s, jewellery, Play Stations, cash and all the vehicle keys. They made their escape in the resident’s Mitsubishi Pajero. She managed to untie herself and contacted her daughter and son’s father-in-law. Officer Wiese immediately gave the registration number of the Mitsubishi to our Bassett’s Central Station to inform the SAPS. Operations Manager, Horstman contacted the tracking company with the vehicle’s details, they recovered the vehicle in Kyamandi 17 minutes after our Officer’s stood down. The SAPS arrived at 23h55 and our Officers handed the undisturbed crime scene over to the Officers in charge. The lady who was tied up did not want any medical assistance, she had bruise marks on her wrists but no other bodily harm was incurred. Well done to our Officers and Operations Manager Horstman, great team work! http://www.bassettalarms.co.za/watchdog/crime-trends/kuilsriver The company also is engaged in many pro-active patrols to prevent farm attacks in the rural areas of Kuilsrivier/Durbanville. In September several suspected farm attacks were thwarted by their preventative patrolling.
