Hennie Fick, head of Hartland college in Pretoria: refused to become another crime-victim: drags attempted robber with hand inside his car... 26 September 2014 Phillip Bruwer Maroela Media - Hennie Fick the head of the Hartland-college in Pretoria's CBD, is full of praise for the metropolice after they managed to arrest three black male suspects within half an hour after they allegedly tried to rob Fick at a traffic light. "It's good to know that one is not alone when you refuse to become a crime victim,' he said. Last Thursday he stood up against his attacker: "I was going home and had to step at the red light on the crossing of Nelson Mandelary Drive and Proes Street. I had rolled down my window to get some fresh air. Two men approached from the rear and pushed their hands into my car and tried to steal my cellphone. They also tried to grab the keys from the ignition.' Fick slapped away the hands of one robber - but the men then plucked out a knife and stabbed Fick in his left arm. "My car has electric windows. Every time I tried to roll them back up, the man pushed it back down again. I told the guy he 'was not going to take my stuff.' Just at that moment the traffic light jumped to green and there ws a space on my left side. I grabbed the guy's arm which was still inside my car and drove off with him. The robber was dragged/ran along about 500 metres down the road until Fick let go of his arm. He fell back. Fick drove on and called for help from the police - but in the meantime the metropolitan police had also been recording the entire incident on their closed-circuit TV. "I was at a pharmacy having my stab-wound treated when the metropolitan police called me and said they had arrested the guys. They had managed to trace my cellphone through my number plates. I immediately went to the metropolice service centre and was impressed with the cleanliness and neatness of the place and how effectively their system was working.' The three suspects remain in custody at the pretoria Central police station until their court appearance. Fick obtained the case number on Thursday - a week later - and will be notified when the trial starts. "I am peaceful about the incident. I am happy I fought back and that the case turned out this way,' he said. http://maroelamedia.co.za/blog/nuus/suid-afrika/vermeende-rower-langs-kar-gesleep-nog-nie-in-hof/
