September 23 2014 - Artificial storm about 'Blackface' dress-up parties whipped up again about second set of white students dressing up as black people for a friend's 21st birthday party. Meanwhile nobody says a word about the many hate-speech incidents against the small minority of white people in South Africa. (examples attacked). Are white students in SouthAfrica in self-destruct mode by whipping up this Blackface craze again? Two Stellenbosch University Students ("Maties") Mark Burman & Ross Bartlett dressed up like the famous American #Williams sisters for a friend's 21st birthday party. Die Son reports 2014/09/23 Quote: "What's with these students who want to paint themselves Blackface to attend 21st birthday parties? The first Blackface incident at the University of Pretoria caused such outrage that the two female students were suspended from their hostels for attending a private party - but were not barred from attending the university until the investigation has been completed. Now the country's second Blackface-incident took place this weekend, this time Stellenbosch University students Mark Burman and Ross Bartlett. They went dressed up as the tennis stars Serena and Venus Williams to a private birthday party. This picture emerged on the instategram profile of Michael Weaver with the comment: “Hanging out with the Williams sisters last night at the Boli’s 21st. Let’s hope they don’t get kicked out of varsity for this one!” Spokeswoman Susan van der Merwe said that the acting rector and vice-chancellor has asked that the case be investigated - since the information is being spread on social media. He has urged hostel residents, visiting heads of hostels, residents in private hostels and clusters to 'speak to students about the sensivity of dressing up in Blackface with students and student leaders'. He said he personally disapproves of any actions which could offend students, personnel and members of the public if they are against the Constitution of South africa. Ms Van der Merwe said 'there clearly are differences of opinions and viewpoints about the blackface parties. "it's a bit too early to form any opinion about this latest incident, but the university will take the suitable steps pending the result of the investigation'. This has the campus talking and hopefully this will lead to greater mutual respect in our student community.' http://dieson.mobi/news/read/9002/maties-smeer-hulself-swart-vir-21st-party http://www.news24.com/SouthAfrica/News/Maties-in-new-blackface-scandal-20140923 http://www.news24.com/SouthAfrica/News/Blackface-students-expelled-from-residence-20140807
