Survives brutal attack by four black males: nothing robbed, CPF worried about many attacks of senseless violence lately -- Stef de Bruto 40 of Hartbeespoort. "They clearly wanted to kill me', he tells local paper Cormorant:
Hartbeespoort resident was attacked on Thursday evening around midnight while watching TV at his home when he was attacked by four black males, armed with chisels.
He sustained serious cuts to his head, face and shoulder: his cheek-muscles were severed and one man penetrated his skull with a sharp chisel.
"It is just Providence that I survived because it was very clear to me that they wanted to kill me,' said 40-year-old Mr De Bruto.
He said normally he keeps his security doors locked but had unlocked one just a few minutes before the attack because he was expecting weekend guests.
"I sat on the couch in front of the tV and when the curtain moved I thought my visitors had arrived.
Then I saw the man storming towards me with the chisel - and he stabbed me in the head and face while three other men also arrived - one taking up guard duty at the door.
"I tried to force them out of the door. One of the attackers stabbed me in the shoulder. Not one word was exchanged throughout the attack.
They didn't ask for anything and they said nothing - it was very clear that they wanted to kill me. I didn't call out because my wife slept in the room next door
and I wanted to stop her from waking up and coming out to investigate.'
He managed to wrestle the three attackers out of the door and lock the security door behind them. They fled.
"Then I had to wake up my wife to take me to hospital. I feared that they had severed an artery because the blood was spouting from my facial wound.The skin of my right cheek
was hanging down my chin." Stef said doctors called him 'lucky'. The chisel point had penetrated into his skull bone but there was no permanent injury.
Nobody was arrested. The Hartbeespoort community-policing said they were very concerned about these senseless incidents of extremely violent attacks.
"The perpetrators are aggressive. We ask residents to be alert and keep their doors locked. Report all suspicious individuals, "
said GPF spokesman Romano van der Spuy.
