August 13 2014 WIERDABRUG: "Five heavily-armed men, who robbed a Total filling station in The Reeds at the weekend, were still at large on Wednesday. Wierdabrug police urged anyone with useful information on them to come forward.
The Rekord is in possession of video footage that show the robbers pulling up in front of the filling station on Sunday and entering the shop. The bombers forced everyone inside the shop to lie face down on the floor. A few seconds later the robbers bombed the drop safe, cleaned out the tills and fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money.
An eyewitness, who asked not be named, said everyone had to lie down on the floor while the robbers cleaned out the till drawers. “After only a few minutes, which felt like a lifetime, there was a loud bang and smoke quickly filled the store.”
SAPS capt Thomas Mufamadi confirmed that the modus operandus of a similar bombing-attack at the Engen filling station earlier in the week - at midnight Sunday in Olievenhoutbosch led them to believe that the two were connected.

The man, who asked not to be named, said: “We (including the Total employees) were told to lie down on the floor while they were busy getting into the till drawers and safe. After only a few minutes, which felt like a lifetime, there was a loud bang and smoke quickly filled the store.”
He said it took the robbers mere minutes to clear the tills and safe before fleeing the scene. “These guys mean business and would not think twice before taking your life,” he said.
MonitorNet arrived on the scene after they responded to a panic alarm triggered by one of the Total garage employees. When they arrived, the robbers opened fire and escaped with an undisclosed amount of money.
Theo Petzer, operational manager of MonitorNet, said two reaction vehicles were dispatched to the filling station. “Thankfully no one got hurt during the shooting.”
Captain Thomas Mufamadi, police spokesperson, said a similar robbery occurred at an Engen filing station around midnight on Sunday in Olievenhoutbosch. “The modus operandi was exactly the same. We are investigating whether or not both incidents were connected.”No arrests had been made by Monday afternoon.

Survived: Rooihuiskraal, Centurion white resident, 45, shot in stomach by 5 member black male attack gang: Tues Aug12 2014 ROOIHUISKRAAL, Centurion: Journalist Natalie Grobler reports in RekordCenturion that a thus far unnamed smallholder was shot, and injured in his abdomen while he was being attacked by 5 black males in front of his yard in Rooihuiskraal. #Wierdabrug sector2 Citizen-Policing-Forum chairman Pierre Viviers said 'the resident was opening his gate to pull his car into his yard in Pelican Street when he was attacked by five black males. It's not mentioned what kind of weapons they were carrying. Strangely only two items were 'robbed', namely his cellphone and wallet -- in an organized attack. The gang arrived in a white BMW and a white Nissan Tiida.
It happened between 19h30 and 20h00. MonitorNet and the police were alerted. Viviers emphasized that at the time the resident opened his yard-gates, there were no suspicious vehicles in sight.
He nevertheless warned: "Residents should be cautious and look out for any suspicious movements, whether on foot or in a vehicle..."
The EmerGMed paramedics stabilized the white victim and transported him to a nearby hospital for medical attention. We are awaiting more details of his present condition. SAPS capt Tsekiso Mofokeng confirmed that dockets have been opened for attempted murder and armed robbery.
