Version One:
An anonymous source within the Durban North SAPS said a domestic worker had tried to use muti (traditional medicine) on her employers in the hope the potion would make them like her.

A DOMESTIC worker has been arrested for allegedly poisoning an uMhlanga family she worked for. The family, a mother and her two young children, began feeling nauseous after dinner on Friday last week and didn’t suspect anything suspicious at the time.
It’s alleged the mother then found a powdery substance in her cupboard.
SAPS spokesman Colonel Jay Naicker, confirmed the domestic worker was arrested. “There was a blue powdery substance found which was suspected to be poisonous. We have sent it to the lab for testing, but at this point in time we don’t know what it is,” he said.
Naicker added the domestic worker was charged with common assault and said it would be foolish to open a case of attempted murder until the substance has been tested.

Afrikaner De Lange family allegedly poisoned by maid: SAPS charges black employee with 'common assault" -
ENCA reports on May 15 2014 that Mandy de Lange started checkjing all t heir ingredients in the fridge -0 and discovered their maid had allegedly put poison 'basically on all our contents.' The entire De Lange family - including the children aged 3 and 4, fell after eating dinner last Friday. Mrs De Lange said she found a powdery substance in her kitchen cupboards. Her domestic worker was arrested after police found her in possession of a substance suspected to be poisonous.
“We started checking all our ingredients in our fridge only to discover she had put poison into basically all our contents,” said De Lange, adding that she confronted the woman, but she denied poisoning the family. Police were then called and found a substance suspected to be poisonous in her bag “On searching her handbag she had actually made a little slit in between the fabric and the outer bag and had a whole pocket of poison inside her bag. "It was a blue substance in powder form and at the bottom of her bag wrapped up in a jersey was about 100 mils of smelling poison mixed with a solution form,” said De Lange. Police said they can only confirm whether or not the powder is poisonous once they’ve conducted tests, but the woman has been charged with common assault. Meanwhile, De Lange said her family will now have to do without a domestic worker because they fear for their safety.
