Missing from police custody: Jeanelle Isabella Borman, 24, of Boschkop since Apr 11 2014
For three weeks, the family of a missing young Afrikaner woman, Jeanelle Isabella Borman of Boschkop, was sent from pillar to post by the SA Police while the family grows increasingly desperate to still find her alive.
Amelia de Ridder of the Pretoria East Rekord reports that her mother Ellen last saw Jeanelle alive on Thursday afternoon 10 April when she was with a male friend, in his thirties, before they went to visit friends in Cullinan on his motor bike.
"We just want to know what happened to our daughter,' said her dad Matt to the Rekord.
Ellen said that the couple decided to stay in a guest house because they'd been drinking.
"Personnel at the guest house told us that they heard an argument between Jeanelle and the man.
Personnel told us that they heard 'a woman screaming' from the room they'd rented.
Personnel tried to enter the room to investigate but the man locked the door and would only let them inside after they had tried for quite a while to get inside.
The personnel summonsed the police and after the man unlocked the door, Jeanelle was taken to the police station.
"We don't know what happened inside that room but personnel said they found make-up markings on
the bedclothes at the lower-part of the bed, said Ellen.
The Borman couple said that same night they received a phone call from the motor cycklist telling them that
"Jeanelle was arrested and taken from the Cullinan- to the Boschkop police station.
Upon enquiry the Boschkop SAPS told Matt Borman that this was inaccurate: that the Cullinan police had, for some reason unknown, taken her to the Sunnyside police station in Pretoria.
The Borman couple tried to establish why this was done but the police then changed their story and said she was taken to the Boschkop police station.
The police claimed they had 'dropped off Jeanelle on the corner of Schoeman/Francis Baard street in Sunnyside 'because she did not want to go home'.
"We feel that it makes no sense to take our daughter to Sunnyside since she lives in Boschkop.
"She is an adult woman and she knows we would not be angry with her for arriving home under the influence of alcohol.'
And ever since April 10 2014 the couple have been searching for their daughter day and night.
"We have traversed and searched Sunnyside with a fine tooth-comb and we don't know where to search any more, said Ellen.
And we get the impression that the SAPS are not giving their full cooperation.'
The Rekord confirmed that the Boschkop police station commander 'was not available for comment'.
The Sunnyside SAPS would only confirm that they are 'investigasting a missing person complaint' after Jeanelle was reported missing at their police station on
Friday 11 April 2014.
