Video: Sunday 27 April, Naauwpoort. The video shows the suspects entering the home at 14h25 and run out two minutes later: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yHflpRYNvY&feature=player_embedded Marie Nel, 52, husband Joe Viljoen 62 and grandchild attacked by two black males at Naauwpoort, Witbank Corlia Kruger writes on 30 April 2014: "I will never forget their faces, ' says Marie Nel, 52. The victim describes the nervous man who pushed the cold steel blade against her throat. And the gunshot which was fired just before the man stormed at her with the sharp knife. The circles around her eyes tell the story of the sleepless nights after her family was attacked by two armed males in her Naauwpoort home on Sunday. "We went to pick up our grandchild and came home. Around 14h30 my husband walked out to get the newspaper next door,' she says. She was sitting at the kitchen table tapping her cellphone when the door opened behind her. "I didn't look around, I thought it was Joe coming back. Instead a strange male stood next to her, grabbed her around the neck and pushed a knife to her throat. He kept saying 'keep quiet' over and over again. He seemed very 'frightened and nervous' when he tied her hands with cable ties, his knife still held in one hand. "He couldn't get my watch off my wrist,' said Nel. The man demanded money. "I pointed with my tied up hands said I couldn't get money with my hands tied.' Just then she heard footsteps outside and realized her husband Joe Viljoen was coming back. "I wanted to scream at him not to come inside but the man threatened me with the knife against my throat. A second man tried to ambush Viljoen at the door. 'Joe struggled with the smaller man and the knifeman jumped in to help his comrade. She greatly feared for their three-month-old grandchild lying in the baby-chair in the kitchen. "I could not think of anything else except our grandchild. Joe stood fast against the two attackers, he's my hero. The men beat and scratched him while he struggled with them to reach the panic-button. Nel managed to rush to the bedroom to fetch her .22 rifle. "My hands were still tied, so it was difficult to hold the gun."One suspect followed her and rushed towards her, and she fired a shot - which missed the attacker. The man stormed at her with his knife held high. And because she could not reload the gun with both hands tied together so I tried to throw it at him.' The man picked up the gun. At that moment the house alarm went off and the attackers tried to flee. The only item the 'robbers' managed to steal besides the small rifle was a cigaret-holder. "Nothing else was robbed. Our cellphones were also left behind, mine was on the kitchen table." She said this was the second time they were robbed and she is traumatised by both events.
