Afrikaner resident Chopper van der Bijl fighting for his life: shot by black male attackers at Featherbrooke Estate home, Krugersdorp

Chopper van der Bijl of Krugersdorp critical after shot in stomach during very violent attack on his family by armed black males Apr 19 2014 - Featherbrooke Estate resident Chopper van der Bijl is in a critical condition after being shot in his stomach during a house robbery. Amoryn Golden 19 April 2014 Chopper van der Bijl from Featherbrooke Estate has undergone surgery after he was shot during a robbery at his home recently. The Van der Bijl family was attacked by a group of very violent black males - they were pistol-whipped and threatened by men who said they would chop them to death with their pangas. According to a statement released on behalf of the Featherbrooke Home Owners Association (FHA) three armed *BLACK assailants entered his residence after gaining access to the Estate by digging underneath the perimeter fence. Entering the house, one of the armed men (*black males, as confirmed by the SAPS) fired at the homeowner, wounding him in his abdomen. It is understood that family members who were in the house at the time of the attack were hit on their heads with firearms and threatened with pangas. Police was notified about the incident after the suspects had fled the scene and ambulances were dispatched. The FHA Board and Estate Management is said to have met to discuss the implementation of additional security measures. Van der Bijl’s daughter Karen Leggatt posted numerous comments on the Featherbrooke Estate Community Facebook page. “Thanks to everyone for your support and concern. We are all very exhausted. My dad is stable, tired and still quite swollen. Day by day, he is getting stronger,” reads one of her posts. Leggatt also posted that her father suffered a set-back after his operation. “My father took a turn for the worse, had a crisis in the afternoon after his operation. He is in a critical and unstable condition. Please send prayers of strength and hope.
