Unsolved murder: Lorraine Shepeard 76, brutally beaten to death, Beverley Groves, Port Elizabeth: 26 Jan 2013
April 17 2014 - Why aren't the murderers of my mother found 15 months later? -- A year+ after the murder of Mrs Lorraine Shepeard, 76 in her Beverley Groves, Port Elizabeth home,
no-one has been arrested. Her daughter Dawn Rogers told 'Die Burger' Afrikaans daily on April 17 2014 that it is 'difficult to accept that my mom was murdered just
for a few jewellery trinkets'.
Fifteen months later and Mrs Rogers feels that the SAPS are making no attempt to find her murderers.
'They promised me that they would find her killers. Fifteen months have gone by and I have heard nothing from them.'
Mrs Shepheard was found murdered on 26 January 2013 in her flat just 30metres away from Mrs Rogers' apartment.
"She looked as if she was brutally beaten.'
Mrs Rogers was quoted as saying that even a R25,000 reward offer for the arrest and conviction of the killers produced no results.
"The only hope we have now is that the DNA of the killer(s) of my mom will be found at another crime scene.
"It's just unfortunate that another crime will have to be committed before the persons responsible can be identified.
W/o Alwin Labans of the PE police confirmed that nobody was arrested but they are 'still investigating the case'.
The picture taken by Die Burger photographer Deon Ferreira shows the distraught Mrs Rogers holding a picture of her murdered mother.
