3 April 2014 - Young Brits man murdered: Leander Dercksen, 22:
shot and stabbed to death and his body left in farm fields, surrounded by his belongings;
"Twenty-two year old Leander Dercksen from Soutpansdrift near brits was shot and stabbed to death and his body left in farm fields when his assaillants fled with his vehicle (it was later found abandoned).
He was on his way to a neighbouring farm on Saturday night when he was attacked and murdered. His body was discovered by a friend Sunday morning 10h00.
A bayonet, firearm and goods were left behind by the murderers - indeed they were found next to him. The SAPS are investigating murder and kidnapping - (not robbery).
His father Gerrit Dercksen who farms there, said his son was enroute to a friend's grandparents where he was supposed to spend the night. On Sunday morning it was realized he never arrived and a search was launched.

March 31 2014: Murdered: Leander Dercksen, 22, reportedly murdered in a farm attack, was found dead and dumped alongside the road between Hartbeespoort and Brits. His bakkie, a white Mazda Drifter reg FSJ-822NW is still missing. This was reported on "Boere Krisis Aksie B.K.A." on "Staan Op My Volk" and confirmed by André. The exact details surrounding his violent death are still being investigated.
