Volksblad journalist Charné Kemp reports 17 March 2014 that if the black knifeman who stabbed Mrs Maretha Mineur, 57, in her neck, had been millimeters wider, he would have cut off her artery and she would have bled to death.
The Wife of internist Dr Bob Mineur is recovering in the Mediclinic Kimberley after her nightmare ordeal.
If was later seen on security videos that the knifeman ambushed the white woman fter waiting 90 minutes for her return to her Belgravia home.
He stabbed her three times - and so fiercely that the knife's blade broke off. She had been at the shops.
As she arrived back she unlocked the gate and walked to the kitchen - and he was waiting for her, knife raised.
He stabbed her in the right shoulder, then her upper lip and then he stabbed into her throat near the main artery. He was determined to kill me. I was screaming loudly,' she said.
Then the man lost his knife, grabbed her handbag and ran away. She chased him while trying to stop the blood, she said.
Her daughter Natie 29 who was in her garden cottage, rushed out and stuck the man from behind as he was climbing across the garden wall.
"I was bleeding terribly and since she couldn't drive my automatic car, I drove one hand on the wheel, the other holding closed the wounds.
When she arrived at the hospital the security guard 'nearly had an attack when he saw all the blood'...
Her husband - who was on duty - rushed to her bedside. The Mineur couple were 'not impressed' with the SAPS reaction.
"We believe that this same man also stole electronic gear and laptop computers from our home a week earlier on a Sunday morning.
He left behind his hat and tackies and pulled on Bob's tackies. His finger prints also were on the milk-bottle. The SAPS did not make fingerprints or DNA samples.
They also were not interested in the vide-grab photos we made of the man when he broke in on Sunday.'
Mrs Mineur said there were two crime incidents in the past few weeks: a woman who was waiting for her daughter at Kimberely Girls High was robbed of her bag at knifepoint.
And a neighbour in the same street also caught a man who wanted to stab a dog to death.
"It seems that there is a criminal active in Belgravia but we no longer see police patrols here. I feel very unsafe here - in a house where I have lived or 25 years.
The SAPS told Volksblad that they take these complaints seriously and they are investigating.
Colonel Priscilla Naidu said police negligence will be investigated internally and steps taken'.

KIMBERLEY. – Die polisie het gister breedvoerig verduidelik dat hulle die ondersoekbeampte in die voorval waarin Maretha Mineur (57), vrou van die internis dr. Bob Mineur, met ’n mes gesteek is, vervang het en ook ’n verdagte in hegtenis geneem het.
Mineur het Sondagoggend ’n nagmerrie-ondervinding gehad toe sy in hul huis in Harleystraat in die spogwoonbuurt Belgravia aangeval is. Mineur is drie keer gesteek. Haar hoofslagaar is met millimeters gemis.
Sy het met een hand na die hospitaal bestuur en met die ander hand die bloeding probeer keer.
Sy is deur ’n inbreker gesteek wat blykbaar ’n uur en ’n half op haar gewag het. Die booswig het na bewering haar handsak gesteel.
Kol. Priscilla Naidoo, polisiewoordvoerder, sê die polisie ondersoek ’n saak van diefstal nadat ’n man ’n week gelede die Mineurs se huis ingegaan en na bewering elektroniese toerusting gesteel het.
“Ons het die ondersoekbeampte met ’n senior beampte vervang. Hy ondersoek ook die aanval op mev. Mineur. Ons het tugstappe teen die vorige ondersoekbeampte ingestel.
“Die 25-jarige verdagte sal binnekort op aanklagte van diefstal verskyn. Misdaad in Belgravia gebeur op ’n sporadiese wyse. Dit is enkelinge wat misdade pleeg, nie bendes nie. Dit is die eerste wrede aanval op ’n inwoner.
“Daar is polisiëring in die woonbuurt en die polisie patrolleer die buurt gereeld. Gemeenskapsveiligheid is vir ons baie belangrik en onprofessionele gedrag deur polisielede sal nie geduld word nie. Daar sal streng daarteen opgetree word.”
